Stronger Guards

I'm runnin Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (along with countless other mods, but this being relevant to npc strength), and have gotten to the point where guards can simply not do a teriffic amount of damage to me, and I've hardly scratched the surface of how much damage reduction I could have on, and they also die so very fast to a good sword (or spell for that matter...). Thus, I was wondering if anyone could beef up guards' health and equipment to make them a sufficient challenge and danger on their own, and a crazed glutton-for-pain bloodbath when the whole town garrison comes after you. That is, do all that and still have it in line with Oscuro's method of dealing with guards, as in the non-levelled-ness, so they'll always have the same rather sufficient-to-kill-you power.

Because I'm tired of being able to hew my way through a legion of guards with only a banana hammock on and a decent non-enchanted sword in my hand (with no spells to support and no reflect damage or shield, either), and want an actual threat to my life when the guards decide to chase me for my criminal ways.

the guards with out OOO are 15 levels higher then you in skills and stats they will always be a challages but its sooo fun to take them all on and escape

Horus-Re ( my Redgurard) and Soina fight a lot of them and run off to its best to use CMs now and again insteard of sonia

my point is that guards are already tough

maybe you should stop using OOO it kind a makes the game easier..

and set the diffculty to max.. the you wont stand a chance agianst a party of angry legion soldiers

And how much drugs have you been smoking?

(In all seriousness, remember using drugs while playing games makes you better. I mean I don't do drugs, but I've played some games against people who are tweaked and damn... They are hard...)

On Topic: The guards are suppose to be trained fighters, so you would think they could take out the champion of cyrodiil who just accidently moved someone elses beer in a pub, but no...

If you have the Construction Set, you can do this yourself with little trouble, albeit a bit of monotony. On the left of the Object Window you'll find a tree-list. Under Actors/NPC/Imperial, you'll find that the NPCs are listed alphabetically, so scroll down to AnvilGuard. Start with opening up AnvilGuardCastlePatrolDay1, and take a look on the left. You'll see that a box labeled PC Level Offset is checked, which indicates that the NPC will level with the player. To its left is a textbox labeled "Offset" that determines how much higher (or lower, if negative)-level they are than the player. Vanilla sets this at 10 for generic guards, and OOO sets it at 15, so you'd probably want to set it to 20 or 25. As an alternative, you could uncheck PC Level Offset. Then the Offset box changes to the Level box, and you could just give them a high (albeit static) level.

Now, If you want to change their equipment to something leveled, (If you just want them to have better equipment, find your armor/weapons of choice under Items/Armor and Items/Weapon and skip the remainder of this paragraph) open up your guard's Inventory tab and remove all their armor and weapons. Now, leaving the guard's window open, go to Items/LeveledItems on the Object Window. Move down to LL2NPC. If you can't see the Guard's inventory-list, bring his window to the front and move it to the right if need be. The item list being moderately messed-up when doing things like this is normal and unimportant, but if it gets on your nerves you can fix it by changing tabs and then back.

Since Town guards use light armor as a rule, (Battlemages and Legionaires use heavy, though) click and drag LL2NPCArmorCombLightBoots100, LL2NPCArmorCombLightCuirass100, LL2NPCArmorCombLightGreaves100, LL2NPCArmorCombLightGauntlets100, LL2NPCArmorCombLightShield100, and LL2NPCArmorCombLightHelmet100, LL2NPCWeaponGruntCombBlade100 and, since some guards use ranged weapons, LL2NPCWeaponGruntCombBow100 and LL2NPCWeaponGruntCombArrow100 from the list in the object window to your guard's inventory list. Or just whatever armor/weapons you wanted, Now his leveled equipment will roughly match that of a bandit boss. If you want to give him a bow/arrow, you'd probably want to go to the leveled arrow in his Inventory list and increase the Amount of it.

Now just repeat for all the guards under AnvilGuard, BravilGuard, BrumaGuard, CheydinhalGuard, ChorrolGuard, ICArboretum, ICArcaneU, ICArena, ICElven, ICMarket, ICPalace, ICPrison, ICTalos, ICTemple, ICWaterfront, ImperialLegion, (Remember, Imperial City Guards and the Legion get heavy armor if you want to give them new equipment) LeyawiinGuard, and SkingradGuard.
