Ekkoe
Hey guys. Weird story. I had a perfectly fine UI until I installed OOO, then it became the way it looks in the added image (only without DarkUId DarN, I didn't have that back then). That was like, half a year ago. I removed Oblivion completely since then, then reinstalled, it still looked like this, which struck me as bizarre. Could there have been traces of Oblivion still on my PC? I mean, it's not like OOO affects my DVD. So now, I installed DarkUId DarN, hoping it'd fix the problem, it didn't. Does anyone have any idea how this could occur? Or better yet, how to fix it? Thanks for reading! Peter aka Ekkoe Note: If you have trouble seeing what I'm talking about, it's the the bars of health, mana and fatigue that lack background. Its no major issue, but it's hard to see when they're full and that sorta thing.
Varus Torvyn
Well, if you completely uninstalled leaving absolutely no files or folders behind, then a possible suspect would be Registry entries. When you uninstalled did you use RegEdit to delete Oblivion's Registry entries?
Ekkoe
I did not, no... is there any way to fix that still, without having to remove everything?
Varus Torvyn
My guess is, since the Registry is looked at constantly by the OS, if you delete Registry entries and try to run a program, it isn't going to work right. Registry entries should only be deleted after you have erased all files off of a hard drive. Some uninstallers do erase Registry entries, but that's not a guarantee: Not all programmers write their uninstallers to be that sophisticated. When you run an installer application for almost any program, if Registry entries are needed, they are written by the installer. Side note - the reason you won't find the Windows Registry listed in Windows Explorer is because it is a protected binary file as well as a critical system file. Ekkoe
Summarized: I'm just going to have to deal with it / Uninstall Oblivion correctly and reinstall, right? :P Thanks for the time, I'll be sure to keep an eye out next time I uninstall Oblivion.
