Professional Voice Actor Loves Skyrim and Wants to Voice your Mods

Good afternoon Modders and Mod enthusiasts!

My name is Andrew Butler. I am an actor (voice, film, stage) and writer who is hopelessly in love with Skyrim.

I am a professionally trained actor that's willing to donate my voice and / or my skills as a writer to modders in need! My voice is versatile, and I am professionally trained. I'm capable of doing VA for all of Skyrim's Vanilla races and much much more!

I now have voice samples available for Argonians and Khajiit. More are on the way, including tracks for Orc, Dunmer, Altmer, Thalmer and Human races. You can download and listen to the files here!

If you want to hear [or read] something specific, post your requests here and I will post them as quickly as I can. Give me lines to read, or character ideas you have and I will be happy to work with you.

Merry Modding!

Hey, just some friendly advice, first I'd give your last name as well. That way we can look you up and ooh and ahh and what you've done. (Since you claim to be a professional) Second, I'd provide some samples so we have at least some kind of a clue what kind of voice you have before even getting involved.

You'll still get plenty of offers, I'm sure, but adding those things would help further.

That's the plan, but at the moment I'm at work and can't really be spouting off warcries and threats ^^ Much as I want to, sometimes.

To give you some idea in the meantime, I'm tenor - bass, male, with a background in linguistics and accents. I hope to get some of those clips up tonight for ya'll.

As for my accolades as a professional actor, they've been mostly small and largely in Theater during the past few years since I have a full time job, so I'm afraid you won't find any full projects online. My full name's Andrew Butler though, if you want to dig around anyhow.

Are you an active Modder atm? Any projects you have in the works?

Alrighty, sounds good.

I am indeed a very active modder and I'm working on a huge project for Skyrim. (I'm trying to get a job at BGS) However I'm not currently looking for voice actors (I already have a cast of 31!), however I still poke around and keep track so that if one of mine goes AWOL, or I need an extra one I know where people are. :)

I just snooped through your signature links, and Falskaar sounds like one Hell of a project. The VA's you worked with for your trailer are both very talented, the male especially. Though he rolls his R's like a Khajiit, he's very much n his breath and does a good job conveying the character's emotions through his lines. One of the harder things to find with VA's these days, particularly amateurs, is that they let the line itself dictate how they speak and react. It's obvious you're not dealing with any amateurs though :) How far along is your Mod?

Thanks. :) The mod is coming along, though it's hard to say how far done I am overall. I'm shooting for a September release. You can read more here: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1373717-trailerwip-falskaar-a-new-lands-mod/

Look at all that Lore! You do us all a huge service by taking the time to give your mod flesh through history :] It is well written, and even for a summary it's damn comprehensive. I really like what I see! You've obviously got a penchant for writing yourself. How many other people are working on the mod itself with you? I see all of your additional quests are still unwritten - if you have their concepts down and its simply a matter of time to get them finished, perhaps you'd like to throw one my way and I can show you how I write for games. You wouldn't be disappointed, but I understand that's quite a curveball. In honor of Falskaar, the first lines I voice for samples will be based on character interactions influenced by your Lore :}

I return home in 1 hour, and will begin recording samples then.

ALL YOU MODDERS OUT THERE! Do you have any requests? A specific race, character type, situational dialogue? Tell me, and I'll happily shoot them back to you. Yes, Trolls. Even the silly ones. =P

Actually, I do have a request or two. For some of the more... theatrical spells in my mod suite, I would love to have a voiceover replace the textboxes I use now. How good are you at doing the 'creepy mysterious DM voice'? This is distinct from the 'creepy DM who won't stop hitting on you' voice. :)

Hooray!!! I'm so glad you posted ^^ Actually, I have an excellent voice for Arcana and evocations. IS there a particular text you'd like read, or perhaps I can do a read off some of my favorite spells in Baldur's Gate 2?

EDIT: I've also just arrived home with fresh batteries for my handheld. The sound won't be as isolated as it could be (need a new manual microphone) but I can get you some samples tonight
