random freezes

gets random freezes in game when im out in the wilds after a while the time it different sometimes i can play for like 20min and then freeze and sometimes just 10-15min. And with freezes i mean that the screen freezes i hear music but nothing more.

That's a lot of mods! Does it freeze for about 5 seconds and then it's playable again for a while and then it freezes and so on? If so then the problem is caused by having uninstalled some mod(s) incorrectly, and since you have so many mods (and most likely updated/removed many) it's very possible that this is the reason for the freezes. What happens is that your game tries to load mods that are already uninstalled, causing freezes, however I don't remember the specific details. The main thing is that your save is rather corrupt. This happened to me before and I had to create a new character in order for the freezes to stop. However, I think that if you install and uninstall correctly the specific mod(s) that is/are causing the problem then the freezes would stop. However, finding that specific mod(s) would be quite challenging since you have so many and you don't know which specific version of that mod(s) is/are causing the problem, even if you had already uninstalled it/them. So, unless you're willing to look for the mod(s) that is/are causing the problem (which would take a lot of time), I would recommend starting all over again with a new character and then being cautious when uninstalling mods. But first check if the freezes occur when creating a new game. If they still do then it may be a mod conflict or even still the consequences of uninstalling mods incorrectly. Check if by uninstalling all mods and then removing the Scripts folder (remember to back up) solves the problem, however it may only solve the problem on a new game, but not on your original game. If not then you'll have to uninstall Skyrim thoroughly and then install again. Hopefully this helps!

well i saw that there were some files left after unistalling Skymomod more spawns in the scripts folder so gonna see if the freezes are gone now and when i mean freezes is that the game totally locks up so have to quit through task manager.

well i belive that i have to start a new game then i belive the saves are corrupt it freezed again after i had removed thoes files that were left over from when i unistalled skymomod more spawns it took longer time for the game to freezes but still. and the top 5 saves in Wrye Smash are in orange color and the rest on the bottom are red so that cant be good.

I posted this in response to another thread, going to put it here to in hopes of finding a solution:

 

I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. I have pretty much the same problem, random freezes where I have to bring up the task manager to close Skyrim which is "not responding". Mine started happening before 1.6 though.

 

I've tried to pinpoint any mods that might be causing it, with little success. One thing I know for sure is I cannot run Warzones:Civil Unrest (unfortunately). I get a 100% auto freeze when using that. However, I still get random freezes without it, so it's not just that mod. I have done a full uninstall/reinstall of Skyrim and Steam, and it still happens. Done a lot of research and finding more and more people having this problem, but no solutions or causes are known. I didn't always have this problem either, just started about a month ago or so.

 

Here is my system for comparison:

AMD HIS IceQ Turbo 6950 2GB

okay i started a new game and it seams to have worked for the moment havent got any freezes yet and my saves are in green color in Wrye Smash now so the problem before i belive was that my saves were corrupt.

Deleting Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini in the MyGames folder (the skyrim save folder) has drastically if not completeley removed this freezing problem for me. I was having to restart every 30 mins or so but i have successfully played 6 hours with only 1 freeze and that was possibly due to a mod i was testing that increased my speed 100%.

 

Back up the files though and be aware that you will probably have to reinstall all your mods again like i did due to some that write to the prefs.ini when installing.

I have the same problem. Skyrim freezes randomly (sound continues), and i have to close via task manager. Edited June 28, 2012 by AlterMann22
