NMM/LOOT skyrim load order

Hello,

As I understand it the load order for skyrim is essential to avoid crashes. Looking at my load order atm it's;

skyrim.esm

update.esm

the 3 DLC

unofficial skyrim legendary edition patch

skyUI.esp

I think the unofficial skyrim legendary edition patch has to be above the 3 DLC's but I cannot alter the load order because the green arrow is greyed out. I also cannot move the DLC's below the patch.

2nd question.

In LOOT, there are messages stating TES5Edit is requesting me to clean files, how would I go about that?

Could anyone offer any advice concerning my issues?

Thankyou,

GeeTW

As far as I know, you're correct as you have it. Skyrim first, then update, then the 3 DLCs in order of release (Dawnguard, HearthFires, Dragonborn) then the Unofficial patch, then others. If you go to the unofficial patch page, there should be something about that in the load ordering instructions, there, which may help you.

The LOOT warnings are probably telling you to clean your master files, Update, Dawnguard, HearthFires, and Dragonborn. (Don't clean Skyrim itself.) There is a running debate over whether this step is necessary, but I always do it and I think it helps considerably, once you start using mods. If you are planning to make mods, it's definitely recommended to start with clean masters. You will also need to do this again, every time you validate files or if there is an update, like with Special Edition.

Here is a thread, with a masters cleaning guide. Remember Dawnguard needs to be cleaned twice automatically, and a third time manually.
