[LE] Custom follower refusing to use furniture

This has really gotten me at my wits end. I have an alias that is functioning as a follower. with a pretty standard follower package and everything works fine.... Including (I thought) the command mode which I trigger from a simple as it gets dialogue Fragment

 

akspeaker.SetAV("Morality", 0)
akspeaker.SetDoingFavor()
But, when my follower goes into command mode they'll go wait anywhere I point at on the ground like normal, but if I point at any furniture they'll say "okay" or whatever. But stand perfectly still. Is there some ingredient I am missing here that would prevent them from being able to use furniture? I checked all the procedures and flags in the package. It can't be that. I tried making them a Teammate (with console) That didn't work. I thought it might be some kind of Keyword the alias needed but looking at the "Follow Me" mod which works perfect for me, his aliases don't have that.
Anybody have any ideas?
