maln1995
So I was out and about, minding my own business, in the wild, spraying my spells everywhere, when suddenly, a wild Thalmor party appears, and they start attacking me out of nowhere. (Okay, I might have hit them with my spells by accident). I quickly disposed of them, thinking nothing of it, and left. I went to Solitude, and suddenly the Thalmor Ambassador guards start attacking me. I can't continue with my quests now because they keep attacking me. What do? Did you attack them a lot before the party attacked you, as in did you attack Thalmor you encountered? If you did, they send attack paries after you. It has happened to me a lot. Did you check the loot that the attacking group had on them? If one of them had a note about you being a threat, than that is the case. It is all about what you have done to the Thalmor before. Hope this helped.
kevkiev
EDIT: out of an abundance of caution, spoiler tags added It's no worries to destroy the Thalmor "hit squads" ie the group where they're carrying a note mentioned in the previous post. It's actually implied in the note - there's something about the Thalmor disclaiming all knowledge of the squad if they happen to get caught. It's the non-hit squad ones you have to worry about killing prematurely, which sounds like the case in the OP. In my first playthrough, my initial meeting with the Thalmor was a hit squad and I just figured they were all like that. So I pre-empetively attacked the next group I saw. Turned out they were the normal type of Thalmor and I was attacked by the next group of Imperial soldiers I encountered. I ended up going back to a previous save. If that's not practical, maybe use a console command to set them back as friendly? (If "friendly" is even a word that applies to Thalmor ) Edited June 15, 2012 by kevkiev

xlcr
@maln1995, my guess is Thalmor hostility script triggers are a threefold combination of either attacking them, acting against them politically, or disrupting their activities causing harm, all of which seem to change over time and become random events as you progress thru the game. fyi, it has been confirmed that wearing an Amulet of Talos or recently activating a Shrine of Talos does not trigger attacks. If you attack them during an encounter (without engaging in dialog and provoking them), are witnessed disrupting their activities, or act against them politically they may go as far as to create an 'Order of Execution' against you triggering special death squads to search and attack you on sight with extreme hatred. Anyway, i'd suggest delaying quest 'Diplomatic Immunity' for now and let some time pass until the game hopefully resets the Thalmor Aldmeri Dominion high faction ranking against you and the Thalmor hopefully calm down so you can approach the embassy again.Your only other alternative is to rollback to an earlier save i guess. In the meantime, if you encounter them do not attack them on sight, always engage/provoke them in dialog, let them go into combat mode first.Hope i'm right that its a random thing and changes over time.. take it easy with the fireballs lol. breakwind
I haven't done the main quest with my current character and I have also angered the Thalmor, though I can assure you it was no accident :whistling: But as I have also done it with a couple of other characters, angered them that is, then completed the main quest. As xlcr has posted time probably heals their anger
mattipanduro
Hi guys. I paid off my bounty to Solitude guards (3995) After that, the Thalmor stopped attacking me when I arrived at the embassy in the quest Diplomatic Immunity. I had both killed solitude gards and Thalmor.
