How to fix the "can't move and attack at the same time" bug

I'm not sure how many people have experienced this issue, but it's clear from Google searches that several have. Maybe a topic for stickying?

I reinstalled Oblivion recently, only to find that it was not possible for my character to move and attack at the same time. The left-mouse button basically would not function until I had stood still for at least a second. The right-mouse button was unaffected.

It took a lot of time and research, but I discovered this is due to the new "click delay" function in Windows 8.1 and above. In the latest versions of Windows 10, "click delay" is not directly editable. But, you can work around it by setting the touchpad sensitivity to "Most sensitive" as explained at this link:

https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/31889-left-click-not-working-when-key-held-down-keyboard.html

Affected users:

--Windows 8.1 and above

--Touchpad, and maybe touchscreen, users

--Any DVD based version of Oblivion; not sure about Steam based versions

I would also recommend you set the "bBackground Mouse" variable to 0 in your My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini file. I'm not certain it helps but it seems to.

I know it is so annoying for me clicklock makes it so I can't even turn while pressing a button even with click delay it is a problem with windows not oblivion and affects all games period. For some reason if I do a complete power off (hold power till I hear a click) it disables itself until my laptop goes to sleep but I DO NOT recommend it. My advice is to either use an external mouse since it doesn't affect that only the touchscreen or map buttons to not use the clicks or some program to use a controller to emulate a mouse.
