DraziaXardei
Hello, my friend is thinking about switching to nmm from mo but doesn't want to give up his current mod setup. Would it be okay for him to do that or would it end up glitching with the mods installed?
chanchan05
NMM support has stopped, just like MO, plus it handles mods differently and is less powerful than MO. Don't get me wrong, I prefer using NMM than MO, but that's only because it's simpler and I don't need MO's "power" really. But NMM is also tedious in using it's profiles and some stuff in that it actually overwrites stuff still. So maybe you could enlighten us as to why he wants to transfer? He might be expecting certain things that will just send him back to MO eventually and have to rebuild his setup from scratch. AFAIK, If you want to transfer out of MO now, I'd suggest either going to MO2 or Vortex. I haven't used MO2, but it was started by MO's original developer, then passed on to his teammates because he got hired by Nexus to make Vortex. So both of these probably would have better connection to MO. In fact, Vortex has an "import load order from MO" button. Otherwise, stay with MO if you're not going for Vortex or MO2. Just my 2c. DraziaXardei
That's really good to know. Thanks for the help. He wanted to switch cause he was having a lot of trouble with overwriting on mo. But if mo2 or vortex are better options then will suggest it to my friend. I may even try one of them out myself. Thank you again.
chanchan05
There are more overwriting problems with NMM than MO.
DraziaXardei
HOnestly I seems more steamline then mo tbh. Seems mo will put up a warning when something needs to be overwritten. Whereas with nmm it prompts you to choose weather or not a file or mod files are to be overwritten or not. Individually and collectively.

But someone coming from MO will probably find a lot to complain about, especially since NMM brings a higher chance of actually ruining something in the install when your mod builds go really complex (I got a 400++ mod list that I used to handle with NMM).
