Smiling characters

I've looked around and haven't found any mods or comments re. this, but perhaps someone knows?

My follower Illia always looks so sad, I'd like to make smiling the default expression for her.

Is there any way to do this without editing her mouth dds file?

simply change her default mood in the CK to happy then ingame (after removing armor and weapons) use the console command "resurrect" on her without quotes, a 1 on the end or killing her.

Puppeteer Master can do facial animation stuff, though I am not sure how permanent it is.

heh, I'd set her to mood to happy, but I hadn't used resurrect on her, so I tried that.

There didn't appear to be any change so I went back to CK, turns out her set to happy is only minutely different to normal, a slight change in the eyes XD

was expecting an upwards curving of the mouth edges

Some NPC's are buggy and wont reset to the new state unless it is a new game, and there are some that will get bugs and never work absolutely correct like Illia, or as bad Daighre modded as a follower. Jullienne lyvive had a true unhappy state for me even though i modded her many times and yet DizzasterJuice's Lyvieve sisters mod had her all smiley. Funny was talking about using her for a base setup in the NPC editor discussion Foretrenty tried her and said she didn't look happy about it.

 

Anyway sometimes changing an NPC just has problems we cant control. but i can say the mood setting works since i made a custom NPC who has an idiot grin constantly unless you poke him or his wife with a sword and it was just the mood settings.
