Hey guys! I really enjoy Skyrim and the great mods you folks have come out with! They are so great and make the game very immersive :)

My issue is though, that my game wont work after I modded it. You see, I havent actually downloaded THAT many mods, (I see some peple here d/l up to 75+ mods).

I downloaded a couple here and there.

A build your own home mod

A mod that changes glass color

A mod with a new quest

Kill move

Expanded villages

Improved textures

Mines of Moria

New begining (alternate start)

And about 35 other such mods here and there.

However when I try to start a new game, nothing happens, just the skyrim symbol is on a black background and thats it, or when I load a game it loads a bit and the whole thing crashes.

Im not understanding what Im doing wrong. Are these mods not meant to be simple and usefull to extend the game's content?

Im extremely frustrated! I want to play the game with the blood mod. I want to play the game with an alternate start. I want to explore moria. I want to see the new temptress race. Why cant I?

How can I make ALL my mods compatible? So many folks are getting them to work why isnt mine?

No i dont want to "meh just skip that hd pack mod". Its there. I want to be able to use it fully

Im tired of all these restrictions regarding the mods.

Can someone help guide me please? Help me set this thing up?

Or heres and idea:

make a mod that DETECTS which mods are INCOMPATIBLE together.

Im tired of sitting and spending f***ing hours upon hours test all the possible combinations on what mods work together and what dont.

I have 35 mods or so. Thats 35^35 possibilities.

In this day and age there must be a more straightforward way. Yes i am using NMM.

thanks in advance for your input guys!!!!

:)

If your not using load order utilities like BOSS or Wrye Bash, I suggest you start using it right now.

Download and install BOSS: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6

It will arrange the mod's load order for you.

Wrye Bash is here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1840

The links will give you more information about this very useful utilities.

Not all mods can be made compatible with all other mods. If a mod changes something in the game and another mod changes the same thing - then you have to make a choice because they are not going to work together.

Installing a bunch of mods all at once is always a bad idea as you don't know which one of your mods is causing the problem. Best is to install them one at a time and test between each one. Then when you have a problem you will know which mod caused it. (But probably not why)

As stated, there ARE programs - Not mods, and they do not install like mods, that can detect a lot of problems, but because every modder can make his mod differently, they cannot catch them all. As already said, BOSS and Wrye Bash are two of them. And they do work together.

Then there is the problems of the game version, Construction Kit version, script extenders and mod dependencies.

Many mods will not work with an earlier game version, or a newer game version or a pirated version.

The same goes for the CK, if a mod is made with a newer CK and you have an older game version it may not work.

Many mods require a script extender (such as SKSE or Dragon Script) and these MUST be updated for each game version.

Then there are mods that are based not on the vanilla game, but on other mods - if that other mod is not present - they cannot work. - When Bethsoft starts releasing DLCs there will be mods dependent on them also.

Then, our mod authors are not highly paid professional programmers, but amateurs. Often this is their first time trying to do something like this and their efforts may not be perfect. At least they are trying and don't need the grief of someone blaming them for their mod not doing what you think it should.

And then there is the problem of users not bothering to read the documentation that may tell you some of what is needed to get a particular mod to work (admittedly it is often lacking, and for some mods non existent) but for those there is the forum topic for that mod to check to see what others have done.

Then Valve came along and made a completely different way to install mods - adding yet another variable into the mess :wallbash:(Nexus has been at this for ten years and we have mods going back to Morrowind)
