StartCombat Won't Compile

I'm trying to make an NPC begin combat at the beginning of a quest stage. This is the script I have now:

Alias_Chef.GetReference( ).StartCombat(Game.GetPlayer())

This is the error I get:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\Scripts\Source\temp\QF_ChefForceGreet_010141E9.psc(15,27): StartCombat is not a function or does not exist

Can someone please just help me with this? Or least tell me how to get an NPC to be an enemy at the end of the stage? I've tried AddToFaction but that doesn't do anything.
