xlcr
@JRFan007, hi, post the contents of your DLCList.txt here, this is just a list of the mods you installed that use esp's/esm's.(search for it in your systemdrive)someone on the forum might be able to spot mods that cause freezes post 1.6.Do you have any animation mods or ENB effect stuff installed? It would be helpful if you provide somekind of clues regarding when/how the freezes are happening in game and if you were getting freezes pre 1.6 patch.Be sure its a 'freeze' you're talking about, not a CTD (crash to desktop). If you do not have a strong gaming rig, have you gone thru your amd/nvidia game profile settings to try alternate recommended settings or tweaks?Did you change many INI settings?Have you allowed Steam to verify your game cache for any corruption yet?Do you use autosave? Staind716
One thing that helped me get rid of every bit of lag and freezes was to simply disable autosave. I don't know how it will work for anyone else but it made a huge difference for me.
Lunyra
Got random freezes aswell, i think it's simply the crappy Game Engine. Got 2 freezes today and 5 min ago i got one aswell while being outside and turning the camera :) But most of the times it happens when inside the looting menu. I never got any CTDs tho. Switched on Logging aswell, but it's no help at all at is shows nothing after the Freeze.
GoodfellowGoodspring
Freezes are worst then CTD because it generally means you have to restart because nothing responds >_< I have a very low end rig but had no crashing problems with 1.4 (in 1.3 i had both crashing and fps problems) in 1.5 the game became more unstable and had a couple of 'crash spots' in the game world which i would avoid, 1.6 has made my game even more unstable.. im pretty such Bethesda enjoy using us as lab rats and changing ram limits and what not without care, i can hardly play the game anymore whereas with a earlier patch i could! :@
DanteUruzu
I believe I found a solution. I was having the same problem and it started after I installed Civil Wars in Skyrim. I uninstalled that and the freezing stopped. Edited September 23, 2012 by DanteUruzu
yttermayn
I believe I found a solution. I was having the same problem and it started after I installed Civil Wars in Skyrim. I uninstalled that and the freezing stopped.I'll second that. I got random freezes, especially at the encounter zone on the big bridge outside of markarth. I unloaded Warzones and I had no more troubles. Too bad, cause I liked Warzones. I am trying Occupy Skyrim and some other ones to try to get a similar experience (hopefully) without freezes or CTDs. jamy555
I was having this problem too. I fixed it by re-arranging my load order using BOSS and cleaning update.esm and hearthfires.esm using TES5Edit. Hope I helped!
banker247
i've been having this freezing problem lately and after much browsing and trying to figure this out it seems a 12 pack of budweiser has solved the issue.. i know this sounds stupid.. but i read on some other forums that your power supply will put out 20% more or whatnot if plugged directly into a wall socket instead of a power strip.. well i just went ahead and did that i gained fps.. like 5-10. i know sounds crazy.. and the freezing stopped everything runs much smoother now.. sounds nuts i know try it.............. jacobo68
this might be the most ridiculous solution but go into your journal and untick as many quests as you can, it worked for me, i had tons of them active shown on the map, since i unticked them it started working normally
Darksider1013
Same here. Been modding since CK came out and I've had so many instances where I encounter literally the most random of freezes. Just now, after rebuilding my computer, my game continues to be supremely unstable. I mean, it is everchanging for me considering I always change my ENB and various mods that I keep and throw out after a few uses. I think I may have found a stable build for now, though I'm back to the randomized freezes. I've come to the point where I'll start a new game and sometimes it'll freeze at the intro sequence (riding in the horse carriage down the hill) and sometimes it won't freeze at all. I've tried playing my old save files which magically seem to be stable until a random freeze comes along. There's nothing specific that seems to prompt it. So my trick is a very sad and long trick but it works. Literally start from scratch. Just Skyrim and DLC and the update.esm. Just keep starting a new game (maximum around 20 times, I know, I told you it's a long process) and see if it freezes. After a while if you have no freeze, try adding certain types of mod bit by bit. You don't want to just throw random mods in there because if you add a weather and a weapon mod in there, you won't know if a later weather mod will have a conflict down the road when you plug it in. Always go by "game changing mods" first (I say game changing as in mods that change core mechanics for example:"Climates of Tamriel", "Wet and Cold, Realistic "Ragdolls and Force", "WARZONES", etc.), then go by visual and audible mods (Texture packs, "Sounds of Skyrim", moon texture changers), then go by magic and weapon mods, then mods that add new locations, quest mods and then misc mods. Like I said, it's a very long process but it works. May take about a few hours but after a while it should be in nice and working order. Just be careful with your mods from here on out.
