Help switching meshes

If anyone can help me figure out why this won't work, I would really appreciate it. I've extracted all of the meshes from the the .bsa file using BSAOpt. I put the flute model in my meshes\animobjects folder in my Data directory. I opened the creation kit, started a new plug-in and took one of the galdurs amulet fragments and created a new object using it. I then changed the model to point to the flute model. When I drag the new flute object into the render window in the CK it shows up just fine as intended. When I load up the game the flute is not there. It won't show up at all. Everything else in the plug-in shows up fine and works as expected so it is definitely active. What would cause the model not to show up in the game? Is there some step i'm missing?

The anim objects folder is exactly what it's called - it's only ment for animation objects, not world objects. The actual flute model with havok is in meshes\clutter\ and then I believe but am not certain the clutter folder.
