hyperactivechild
a lot of the time (most of the time?) When I use the smooth terrain or the level terrain tool, it will create, well, like a shell. The shell will be texture only, you run right through what looks like a slope. Seems like I remember this happening with the GECK editor also, but I can't remember if I ever figured out what to do about it. Appreciate the help. David Brasher
If you were to flatten a hill so it was no longer there, then the distant LOD mesh from that hill would stick up out of the ground. It is kind of a patchy lo-res ugly thing when viewed up-close, and you can walk right through it. To fix this, you would need to generate new distant LOD. In Oblivion this was a horrible nightmare and it was hard to get the software to work right. In Skyrim, Bethesda admits that the software released to the public is broken. So of course it is hard to get it to work right, although a few people have somehow succeeded. The best solution is to not do things that expose distant LOD meshes. Like you can build all the hills and mountains you want, but don't remove hills or create valleys and depressions. Figure out a different way to get the landscape you need that does not expose distant LOD meshes.
