ok mabey that this question may have been asked before but I simply don't understand the search thingie :P , ok here's my problem: ok I got this character and I want to give it some new topics to talk about. The filter is set for the character but now, I wanna add some topics. But when I right-click in the topic list (which is empty btw) and click new there is an text field apearing in the topic list where I can name the topic. When I have named my topic and press enter or click somewhere else in the topic list it DISSAPEARS!!!!!!! :bye: , so what am I doing wrong???

When you create a topic it doesn't appear in the list because... The list is filtered for your NPC. When you firstly create the topic, the Speaker ID is empty so if you filter for any NPC (or creature) you won't be able to see it. Just open the dialogue window, create a new topic, enter your NPC's name to speaker ID and then filter. :) That same problem annoyed me for a VERY LONG time  .

also, if you want to see the topic, click on the "..." thing in the NPC edit window, not the dialogue window and type in

Begin namescript

AddTopic "Topicname"

End

then you will be able to see the topic upon talking to the NPC

Ok.

When you create a topic it can be used by any NPC. This goes for greeting etc. too. Therefore when you create a new greeting and dont filter it, the Speaker Condition is blank, then every NPC in morrowind will have that as their default greeting. So if you want to make a new a topic for a single NPC, lets just call him bob, then do this:

1. Change the 'Filter For' drop down menu to blank(its at the top)

2. Right-Click in the topic list, and select new.

3. Call it whatever. Lets say 'help'.

4. Set the Speaker Conditions, Id setting to the id of bob.

5. Bingo!

Note: To have a topic in your list you have to have heard it or have a script add it. So if you want your char to have it when you talk to this NPC get a greeting like "Hello, do you want to :!: help :!: me?" This will add the topic to your list!

Hope this helps! ;)
