Making a Companion

With the help of trusty youtube and flitting through the forums here, I've become proficient with the bare basics of the GECK: I can change the stats on weapons and armor, create NPCS, place them in the world, and so on.

 

I recently made a rudimentary companion using the PlayerFollow AI package, but I would like to improve him to be a close to a vanilla companion as possible. I want to see if I can give him the companion wheel, some dialogue, and then place him in such a manner that I can hire him or ignore him like an ordinary companion. Maybe even a companion quest and perk (if I'm not getting too ambitious).

 

Also, a secondary question that need not be answered promptly: how do I add my own effects to armor without using the ones already provided. For example, if I wanted to give a hat more bonuses than PER +1, how would I do that?

 

Thoughts and advice would be very much appreciated.

There is a really useful tutorial for making a companion that i followed and it worked out well with only a couple problems where i probably did something wrong

as for the increased perseption thing you can do that by changing the object effect, but i can't really give you any more details because i've never changed any of that myself
