TheKazz
So I am a bit OCD about collecting unique items, weapons, and armors in games so obviously I love to collect the Deadric artifacts. The problem is that it kinda sucks that I basically have to become the champion of an evil daemon(s) in order too get them and most of the quests invole doing some sort of hance act to acquire them, when I am trying to be a good and moral character in kinda ruins immersion. So I thought it would be really cool if someone made a quest which you would receive a quest from the Nine Divine where they will send you out to collect these objects of great evil and bring them back to some temple and perform a cleansing ritual on them. They also say that they will forgive any transgressions you may need to commit in order to claim the deadric items. After performing each ritual you will receive the purified item as a quest reward. The purified Items could be something like:Azura's Star > Mara's Heart: Refillable soul gem that will absorb all souls until it reaches a grand soul so it would basically make 5 petty soul into one grand soul. Mace of Molagbal > Talon of Akatosh: Dagger with increased critical chance and damage along with some rare enchantmentDawnbreaker > Stendar's Fist: 2H warhammer that deals bonus damage to warewolves, vampires, undead, and deadra. ECT. ECT. This would also give the Nine a larger presents in the game which I have always felt was lacking in the elder scrolls games it just seems that the deadra are a bigger focus and more powerful than the nine which I don't think should be the case at all. The at least need to be on an even playing field IMO. Edited June 19, 2012 by TheKazz
iamironman956
great idea i really like some aspects of it although i have a few problems: number one you have little knowledge of the lore behind the creation of the world, number two turning a mace into a dagger and a sword into a warhammer isnt all that logical especially when there is already a warhammer in the game as a daedric artifact, volendrung, although this would a great mod
Matth85
This would also give the Nine a larger presents in the game which I have always felt was lacking in the elder scrolls games it just seems that the deadra are a bigger focus and more powerful than the nine which I don't think should be the case at all. The at least need to be on an even playing field IMO. The problem is that the nines can't enter Tamriel, while the Daedras can. Since the Aedra were too weakened to create Nirn, they are unable to walk the planets. Additionally, their power was so reduced that the Aedra lost the ability to manifest themselves physically or to interact directly with their creation.http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Akatosh From the wiki, so I have a source to back up my rabble :)
TheKazz
Yes I will admit I am not a lore expert on everything elder scrolls but I think there are ways to work around it and make this mod remain lore friendly. I mean the nine have to have some small ability to interact with the world simply based off the shrines and amulets both of which grant blessings from the nine. I as also thinking that the petrifaction ritual would be very in depth and kinda a pain to complete forcing the player to collect various items from the world such as amulets, mammoth tusks, centurion dynamos, rare alchemy supplies or potions, metal ores/ingots, Ect. along with 9 filled grand soul gems (multiplied buy the 16 deadric artifacts that is 144 total) The player would have to bring all of the required items to some lost temple of the nine on a certain day of the month at a certain time (maybe an 8 hour window same idea as making black soul gems in oblivion) and place all the items in a central alter and the nine soul gems on pedestals in front each statue of the nine and then use a certain power that is gained earlier in the quest line. The whole purpose of this ritual being to grant the nine enough power to temporarily effect the world. You could even view it as the nine placing a very strong blessing on the deadric items. Technically the nine are not actually expending that much power because most of the actual power is provided by the deadric artifact itself the nine are simply cleansing it and severing its connection to the deadric lord. The justification for turning a mace into a dagger and a sword into a war hammer is that the deadric items are not really crafted items but rather they are physical manifestations of the power of each deadric lord and don't truly have any specific form. So who knows how that raw power might manifest once it is no longer attached to a specific deadra.
