Far Harbor-Commonwealth Fast Travel

Am I missing something or is the only way to get between FH and the CW is by using the boat ? If so, that is ridiculous. While trying to play the FH DLC, I have been continually plague by "Defend the Settlement" notifications for locations in the Commonwealth. It's like you can't even enjoy playing the DLC because of this bs. I took the boat back a few times and no sooner got back to FH when I received another attack notification. This is absolute crap.

Now, I haven't been going back and then get the message that I have FAILED. Checking stats, the "happiness" of many of my settlements has gone way down.

Could you suggest a few good ones that don't cause other game problems ?

There are fast travel buttons for moving back and forth between the island and the Commonwealth, although they are not obvious. The one to go to Far Harbor is in the ocean off Nakano Homestead, and looks like wavy lines. The one to return to the Commonwealth is in the ocean to the east of Far Harbor, and looks like a city skyline. If you use these buttons, you are teleported to the pier where the boat docks at the respective locations.
