wsejack
I dont know about yall, as a matter of fact, this seems to be the oposite of what people are doing in a lot of cases, but I find draconian leveling to be f*cking irritating. I loved that in morrowind, there were just some places you couldent go till you earned it, and I loved that you had to find all the good equipment on your own (and often with the magic of google). One thing about skyrim as was the case in oblivion (though it seems a bit better in skyrim) is that nothing changes, all your new moves you struggle to get dont amount to sh*t cause everytime you gain a new skill, the enemies bulk up to the point where it realy dosent do anything, save that if you dont use it, they will undoubtably rape you. It seems like fighting has been the same for the last 20 levels for me. I still end up in odd ass fights where some wizard will rapid fire giant fireballs at me and kill me in 2 or 3 hits, within a span of 2 secconds.... Im ok with hard, but given that this isnt exactly a full flushed fp smacker like dark messiah, the combat isnt near as exiting or as complex enough to not make it boring and frustraiting. Basicly it breaks down to how many times can you hit something.... over and over and over. The removal of dodge means that 90% of my ducks and weaves are for not since they auto hit you if your within a certain proximity to them... either way its annoying. I can deal with it, cause I dont suck and these things, but I realy would like to not have to throw down with every polar bear or average bandit I see... It just dosnet make sense for him to do what must be a 3 or 4 hit kill on me when I have to hit him about 30 times, 10 to 15 with power attacks.... Now with morrowind, there were just places you had to bulk up to get to, that was awsome, it made you feel like you had accomplished something. On top of that, equipment had to be found and earned, shopkeepers had an inventory, they just didnt magicly gain the latest and greatest the moment you reach a point where its needed.... thats realy lame, some spots should just have some things, Now, that might get repetitive some people say, but SOMETHING, is better than nothing when it comes to repetition, and not having any sort of special loot discoverys (minus a very few things that dont even make it worth while) Is far more boring than having it, then playing the whole game through, and not having to find it, as in this version, theres no finding to begine with, you just automaticly get access to things of the appropriate level. Anyhow, I was just woundering if there was a mod out there for people like me who actualy want to have some sort of linear progression, I mean, thats how most shooters are... you go from one spot with weaker enemies to another with stronger cause youve progressed to that point.... rather than having it the same allthe way through. Dalter
I miss that since Oblivion too. When i remember how happy i was when i first discovered the shops at the ghostfence in Morrowind with all the rare glassitems^^ ... but Morrowind on the other side was from begin designed to be so as it was. Don't know how good the feeling will be with only stopping the leveling of enemies and items. Maybe the randomness of Skyrim will not fit good with an unleveled experience without a lot of work. And this work could be to take the randomness or parts of it away, which on the other hand maybe reduce an other taste of individuality of the game... hm, hard to decide, much about the spawn-system is very boring (especially the shopsystem) but perhaps in the future i can count under the line more skyrim-play-throughs than morrowinds because there it was then from char to char a little more boring already to know where is this and that enemie and where to find this and that item... But this mod could maybe be a good begin: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18212 saw it the last time, haven't tested it yet but i have a eye on it. Till now Skyrim Monster Mod helped me a lot with giving me a better feeling about the spawns. Edited June 20, 2012 by Dalter
wsejack
Thanks man, looks like thats along the same lines as what I was thinking, not sure where he is going with it, kinda looks allmost broken, but at least its something. I figured if I ever get the time this summer I would do it my self.... god if only I were still in highschool, back then I could devote some much time to my little mods... David Brasher
He is another mod that overhauls the leveled lists to prevent the world from revolving around you and having all the enemies, gear, and loot always match your level: Skyrim Scaling Stopper.
