charwo
Well, while I'm not done with Fallout 3 by any means (restarting with FWE) I am planning at some point to get Fallout New Vegas. So I'm running prelims on what mods I need to have on hand to do it right out of the box. Also, given how any backstory for the Courier is essentially optional,I want to play the Courier as a vampire. As in a vampire that was embraced in the 20th century. But I'll get to that in a sec. But there's more to the mods than that. So here's what I'm looking for: 1. While not technically a mod, I don't think I would enjoy anything of Old World Blues, so if you want to make a pitch, go ahead. I did my research on Old World Blues, and if anything it's more grabasstic, mood breaking and plausibility breaking than Mothership Zeta. I like zeerust, but I want a story, not a game, and Fallout 3 is already within a hair's breadth of my tolerance for suspension of disbelief. That said, if there's a mod that reduces the insanity of Old World Blues, maybe I should check it out. 2. I was willing, however distasteful it was, to put up with the notion of 200 year old irradiated river water in the Potomac. Given the backstory of Mohave, I want the radioactive water out. 3. While I loved the Green World feel of the Badass Wasteland Restoration Project, I don't think something quite that green is appropriate for a real life desert. Is there a 'green mod' that shows the natural climate of the Vegas Region? 4. Corvega mod. Want. Best vehicle mod. Any dispute? 5. Anything else that I should ad to my shopping cart? And now we get to the vampire part. Groan if you like, I don't blame you. But I don't think I wanna use a vampire mod. First, I don't want to play vampire game. I basically want the functional equivalent of a pretty ghoul. The other is that the vampire mods I have seen have sunlight damage in them. f*** that noise. So, instead of making a vampire mod, I was thinking a little outside the box: front load the character with a bunch of vampire themed perks at level one. This would actually give me the capacity to build a vampire model as I and I alone see fit. The problem is of course that I don't don't want to completely destroy the challenge of the game. Which is why I will be playing hardcore. These were the mods I was thinking of: CannibalGhastly Feast (the one that lets you feed on ghouls)Meat of ChampionsFriend of the NightHealing ModuleIrradiated Beauty Now, because I am interested in doing this right, there's a stipulation: although the vampire I want to play can go out into daylight and can eat somewhat, no chems work. That means no Buffout, not Rad-X, no Jet, no stimpacks. Vampiric healing comes at the cost not being able to use anything else. The things I wanted to ask here revolves around modified traits. In Fallout 3 I got a package of traits that included a trait version of Night Person where not only was there a nighttime bonus, but a dinging daytime penalty as well. I think that makes sense. Also, I think Hemotophage perk from Fallout 3 would do nicely, if it exists via console commands like a lot of other stuff from Fallout 3. Though I don't know the utility based on blood packs being much more rare in New Vegas. And then, is it possible to toy with the dehydration/starvation numbers in hardcore mode? The basic idea is that even if a vampire can eat and drink, they don't get a lot of nourishment from the stuff. If that's the case, I'd need to edit the Human Flesh, both taken and consumed on the spot, to have both a dehydration and starvation marker, and I was wondering how difficult that would be. SO, any help appreciated.
Dandie
3. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/398564. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/37708 - Well, it's buggy, to put frankly. It's main problem that it seems to abandoned by it's authors, and there are things to fix and to improve. There are only French speech with Englsih subs (as for me, not a big deal, but some folks find it immersion-breaking or something). But I think it's totally worth a try. The car itself looks just great and fitting, the characters are great. You can find the plot to look simple, but feels and plays like it's a part of vanilla game. charwo
French voice over is not a problem for me. But the Wasteland Flora package is just what I am looking for. Now about the DIY vampire part:I am asking for help on that because it does represent a mod done on the cheap, and for the modding impaired. Like I said, I want to play a vampire, but I don't want to remove the challenge of combat so completely it becomes a tedium. And then of course, can the Geck be used to modify the starvation/hydration values of food and human corpses, and if so, how does it work?
Quetzlsacatanango
OWB's insanity is its strength, not its weakness.
charwo
Oh I understand that in principle. However, for me a sense of realism is all important. I'm rather loose on what constitutes realism, but cross that line it's like putting rancid mayo on my cheeseburger.
charwo
Well, despite my dislike of OWB, could I get some direction on how to mod a 'vampire' without breaking the game of challenge?
