CharIatan
Evening ! I recognized a strange thing while editing textures. For some reason, my compressed .dds files always end up larger than the original ones from skyrim, and larger than other files with the same resolution aswell. The difference between DXT1 DXT3 and DXT5 seems quite obvious, why my files are generally larger is quite enigmatic however. Are there sub-types to each compression that I do not know of ? Is there anything I can do to reduce filesize beyond saving the texture with the appropriate compression and mipmaps ? I am using GIMP with the latest .dds plugin for my work.
