SKSE not functioning

Okay so I'm getting very frustrated here, My SKSE isn't functioning for some reason.

So heres whats going on,

Yes I load from SKSE_Loader, I also use SKYUI and its working fine, or atleast it doesn't give me any errors, however, anything that involves a new key just doesn't work. Maybe all of them just aren't compatible with the recent skse, but I use

SKYUI <---working! =/

Dragon souls to perks,

Werewolf toggle,

Now I've just installed the dual wielding parry mod, and it won't work either.

I have no clue whats going on at the moment, since SKYUI works fine, then it just seems to be something wrong with ones that have inputs in my keyboard.

Anyone know whats wrong?

First guess, you didn't read the new installation instructions. A new type of file has been added to the SKSE (.pex) and they need to be put into a different place.

From the readme

Skyrim Script Extender v1.5.9

by Ian Patterson and Stephen Abel

The Skyrim Script Extender, or SKSE for short, is a modder's resource that expands the scripting capabilities of Skyrim. It does so without modifying the executable files on disk, so there are no permanent side effects.

Compatibility:

SKSE will support the latest version of Skyrim available on Steam, and _only_ this version (currently 1.6.89.0). When a new version is released, we will update as soon as possible; please be patient. The editor does not appear to need modification, however a custom set of .pex/psc files must be installed.

[ Installation ]

1. Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Skyrim directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\. If you see files named TESV and SkyrimLauncher, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod. The "src" folder is only useful for programmers, most users can ignore it.

2. Copy the .pex files in Data\Scripts\ into the Data\Scripts\ folder of your installation. The .pex files are needed by all users of SKSE.

3. Copy the .psc files in Data\Scripts\Source\ into the Data\Scripts\Source\ folder of your installation. The .psc files are only needed if you have the CreationKit installed and intend to create or compile Papyrus scripts.

4. Launch the game via running skse_loader.exe.

If you use a desktop shortcut to launch Skyrim normally, just update the shortcut to point to skse_loader.exe instead of TESV.exe or SkyrimLauncher.exe.

Im trying to install it, but this bit confuses me:

"2. Copy the .pex files in Data\Scripts\ into the Data\Scripts\ folder of your installation. The .pex files are needed by all users of SKSE."

there isnt a Scripts folder in the Data folder for me to copy the .pex files into, so where do i put them???

The easiest way to do it is to cut the "data" folder out of the SKSE folder and then paste it into your Skyrim directory. Then click yes to the prompt asking if you want to merge the SKSE data folder with the current data folder.

@Jack Nitro: This is discussing installing SKSE, Dragon Script is a completely different subject. Please make a new topic if you want to ask about it.

@Wizard: Thers should be a scripts folder inside of the data folder (skyrim\data\scripts) If you don't have one it could be you haven't started playing and made a save yet. Some of the sub folders are not created until they are needed. You can create it yourself, and install the .pex files there. SKSE doesn't care if it the scripts subfolder is created by a program or by yo it will still use it.

  • 1 month later...
I wanted to stop using skse (new update for skyrim and I want to wait a little before installing the new one). I thought that maybe I could just switch back to the normal Skyrim shortcut. However, I installed skse by extracting the files to the places that were named in the readme, so I was afraid that the game wouldn't work properly. Will the game work or should I do something else to uninstall it?
