Valenwood (WIP)

Hi everyone,

As some of you may know, I am currently planning a mod which will allow the player to visit the landmass of Valenwood, home of the Bosmer, or wood elves.

I'm only just staring to design the mod, as I am putting most of my free time into Rochebere (Click here for the thread if you're interested).

Realistically, I think the outcome of the landmass would be around 1/4 to 1/3 of the size of the Skyrim map. I plan to have custom retextures (and meshes if I get better with using blender) on the trees and foliage to create the unique rainforest feel that Valenwood has been mentioned to be home to.

I plan to make the 8 settlements of Arenthia, Silvenar, Woodhearth, Greenheart, Eldenroot, Southpoint, Haven and Falinesti, each have their own unique look and feel, as well as unique villagers.

Some more planned features of the mod include some of the creatures native to Valenwood, such as the Igma.

I am hoping to create a few interesting quests, within reason of course, that will help the player to feel alive in the province.

I hope you look forward to this mod

I do look forward to this :D I mostly play Bosmer characters, so I have a few ideas I could share with you if you happen to be interested in suggestions and such

That would be good, feel free to PM me if you have any extra suggestions. At the moment I'm planning to give players who haven't read about Valenwood before a chance to learn a bit about the culture there, like the Green pact, the Wild hunt etc.

looks nice, the trees are not skyrim trees though. Where did you get them?

Also, does it make sense for there to be a nordic burial urn on the other side of tamriel?

I took some trees which I found in the meshes BSA file, and retextured them to give them a more exotic theme. I think the mesh I used is the one from Whiterun, you know the one with pink leaves (I can't remember the specific name).

About that Urn, I am going to get around the retexturing it so that it looks more Elven, but I've only retextured a couple of things for the mod at the moment. I'll get round to doing the smaller details like this later on.

Hey dude, your work on Rochebere is great, and its brilliant to see a new landmass mod. I don't mean to pimp my mod but I thought this might be of use to you.

I made a pack containing 49 green foliage models for modders to use to make green forests, not only does it include trees, but also branches so you can make thick canopies.

It might save you some time, so I thought I'd give a shout out.

Nice! Glad you like the mods. I'll probably think about using your tree models eventually then, if you don't mind.

They are made as a modders resource so please go ahead. I'll be adding more, but there are already 49 objects which should be plenty to get you started.

Great, when I eventually finish the Valenwood mod (which will probalby be months away from now), would it be okay if I pack all the necessary files into my mods' BSA, to save people downloading two mods.

I will of course give you credit on the description, readme's etc.

Don't worry if you would prefer that I didn't, it's fine.
