TheWhiskeyRose
Hello, I've been playing Fallout on the PC for some years now. I have downloaded and used many mods in my time, but it is only recently I felt the drive to try out some modding in Nifskope and G.E.C.K. I'm green as grass when it comes to this stuff, so please - be patient with me. So to elaborate, I recently downloaded Caesars New Regime mod (and love it), but I came across a particular helmet, which I quite liked - but felt it was lacking something. So I took it upon myself to add a face-mask onto it from a another model of helmet added by this mod. And I did so in Nifskope (Using the copy branch / paste branch etc). In Nifskope, it's quite clear that the face-mask fits the helmet quite well. (Though no textures show up, but I'm not sure if that's imperative or not). So I save the edited .Nif file into the " Fallout New Vegas/Data/Meshes/dragbody_nv/CNR " and overwrite the existing file. (After making a backup of course) After that I head into G.E.C.K and load up the necessary files and search for the particular helmet, now - this is the problem; if I click on edit and change the Model of the helmet to the model I edited - the new mesh doesn't show up, it just stays the same as if I had never edited it. Also there seems to be a small 'Padlock' at the bottom left of the Icon on the edited file. I'm probably making some newbie mistake somewhere along the lines, I'm just not sure where and to what extent - so any help I get I would greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance -R
Quetzlsacatanango
Is steam installed under c:\program files\etc...?If so it is probably a UAC problem. You need to disable UAC, move steam installation, run geck as admin, or some other bullcrap like that.
TheWhiskeyRose
Well, now I found that the edited model DOES actually appear in-game, the problem now is that the mask I added to the helmet is clipping through the face. Any suggestions on how to combat this?
Quetzlsacatanango
Make it use the head slot.
TheWhiskeyRose
Sorry, this is still a learning curve for me - how would I go about that exactly?
