King's Field JP Oblivion Remake

Hey there!

I was wondering why this was never considered out of all mods, especially with all the similarities with the King's Field franchise. Most the general game play assets are there to make a port of KF1 to Oblivion. It's easy to do KF1 as a dungeon mod/quest most importantly. No one has to make an exterior map or anything.

I'm pretty certain that most enemies are doable by replacing them with vanilla monsters and just making some of different sizes and spells. So many KF monsters are similar to ones already present in Oblivion. Even the mummy could just get turned into a zombie and so on. Of course, current monster mods are present too. If it did get complex, there could be an overhauled mod that uses new custom models.

It depends on how far it goes. I'm certain the worst case scenario is similar enough, but the best scenario is a mod quite like Astralis, with complexity.

Already, I can tell you that you only need to put music as a 2d, constant looping sound effect and have the music on a lower setting. It gets the job done as the effect will blare over the default music but it wont be quiet without any custom sound music inserted. As King's Field is one big area per floor, you wont have that sound repeat for every dungeon space. Each space is a floor with another song. Imperfect but gets the job done on what I've done for adding metroid music to some dungeons.

This is an interesting idea to me and while KF1 JP is the best and easiest beginner's choice, it may be a nice project to port all 3 to the Oblivion engine just for the fun of re-imagining them in a new gameplay and graphics engine that enhances that awesome atmosphere they had. The game play is very similar and great for porting the entire franchise over if wanted. Heck, you might be able to port KF4 for the ps2 over too.

Of course, I'm not telling anyone to just up and do this or to port them all, just, it's a nice idea for those would be interested in doing so, yet never thought of it. I'm telling you right now that my effort would be personal and limited, so if any of you want to do this more professionally and you know of and like KF, it would be a pretty unique thing to do with Oblivion. It won't be perfect. Not all traps or what not would be the same, but that's the magic of modding, that the core is still there and most the content is too.
