mrp8196
I for will pick console codebesides they fix screw up errors like NPCs winding up i n lala landbut yeah if Atronach is a pain to use. then fix it with a console codeHowever I won't use the the more cheat console codes like invincibility or kill all enemies in area and suchbut yeah console code is much better than staring overbeing that elder scroll games are marathon RPG like Disgae is
mizdarby
I tend not to use the console codes, for 'cheating' reasons, I sometimes use the tfc command (free camera) for doing a panoramic sweep of my current favourite mod (Unique Landscapes), and have used the coc testinghall command out of curiosity sake. However, the first time I went to Greenmead Cave, it was full of my nemesis type enemies, the Will o Wisp, which probably kill me more than any other enemy. And most of the Will o Wisps also had a Troll 'bodyguard'. A single Will o Wisp is best beaten by keeping your distance, hitting them with your best spells, which involves backing up a lot, but in the Greenmead Cave situation, this is not really an option, as backing up will sooner or later, back you up into another Will o Wisp, and thus doubling your problems. After dying dozens of times, I used the killall console command, and suddenly all my enemies were dead. This solved the problem of dying so often, but meant the cave was also no longer any fun to play. After researching console codes a bit, I backed up a save, re-entered Greenmead Cave and found the solitary Will o Wisp on the left hand fork, and used the setav health xxx(where xxx is a number) command on the Will o Wisp, making it's health pretty low (set health to 50). This was more satisfying, as it meant I could beat a Will o Wisp, then deal with the Troll 'bodyguard', but still had a chance of dying (though a much lower chance). So I would say restart more than console command, but when faced with a situation you simply can not beat, then a 'cheat' console command might be the only way to continue your game, which in my case at the Greenmead Cave situation, was already over 75 hours of gameplay. Sarissi
There may be times when tgm (toggle god mode) can help get you through that 'always getting killed' situation. Then tgm again to disable god mode. It is something to be used as a last resort and in this way, it is really not cheating.
