Bubbinska
Hi all, thanks for reading: I recently got a new computer and reinstalled Oblivion with my regular slew of mods, to discover a problem with the following features: Mod causing the problem: Exnem's eyecandy body, HGEC body, Exnem EC body clothing.Problem: When looking at certain angles or at certain objects, I get a black screen (HUD is still present)Notes: Only happens when I'm in first person and have not got a weapon drawn. Weird, huh? Now I've currently got the mods disabled because they don't really matter a whole lot but I've just realized that most of the clothing mods are for the EC mesh, which will likely cause the same issue. I suppose I could post a full mod list and what my PC's specs are, but I have confirmed by means of elimination that it's the listed mods causing the issue and nothing else I've got on. I wonder if it's got to do with how the game draws (if it even does) the player character in first-person mode? Thanks in advance for any advice/help, Bubbinska
bugs69686968
This is a very commen problem with NVIDIA video cards. they dont fully support some of the textures in Oblivion (espicially indoors) and therefore display a black screen when the texture is in sight. There are some alternate mods for NVIDIA cards--such as in the Apachii Goddess Store mod--so try looking for those. Unfortunately, I do not believe Exnem body has one. Your best shot is to either get a different brand or the newest version of your current card.
dogwithrabiez
Well, does this happen 100% of the time, or only when you play for a while?
Bubbinska
It's 100% of the time but only at certain angles. Thanks for the tip, bugs - I've just managed to reproduce the bug without the exnem mods, so I suppose it's my card. The card is an Inno3d GeForce9800GTX overclocked, and I won't be replacing it anytime soon, so I suppose I'll just make sure to keep my drivers up to date and whenever I encounter the problem, i'll just keep my weapon drawn. bugs69686968
np ;) ya i have the same problem --nice card and all-- but i figure it's not too bad in the longrun eh? graphics make it worth the occasional blackness.

Bubbinska
Nice find, bugs. I think that this mod has fixed the bug's occurrence in all vanilla oblivion sectors. I wonder if there's a way to globally set that variable that's talked about in the mod's description. I've also narrowed down my bug's criteria - if there's any first-person view model such as a weapon, torch or fists on screen, the bug will not occur. I was considering getting my modding voodoo on to do some minor tweaks anyway, maybe I'll take the opportunity to perform the fog distance fix on all cells while I'm at it. Maybe I could make a script that changes the setting whenever I enter an area...

You must change this value to 1024.
Bubbinska
Yeah I had the UOP but discovered that it was deleting sections of map for some reason, so I uninstalled it. iShadowMapResolution is still correctly set though.
