Moraelin
Well, the FO3 version has been released, the NV version will probably come tomorrow.
canecane
It's awesome! Thank you so much
Moraelin
And the NV port is released too. I also added a shiny silver bullet as a projectile (you sometimes see it in flight in VATS) and reworked the grip a little more.
Cyberlazy
if you give it a custom projectile, Note that my ammo database has the 454 casull listed at 1600fps, or 34080 game units. With the extra long barrel, Maybe 2000 would be a little closer. (42600 game units)
Moraelin
Well, TBH, I wasn't thinking of RL accuracy in that case, but more like aligning it with what the vanilla projectiles do. At heart, it's still a game weapon.
Cyberlazy
But there is no vanilla 454 projectile :)Bethsoft actualy got some of the projectiles speeds pertty accurately, so I think they where infact aiming for real life speeds, even though with hitscan enabled, theres no leading (time to impact is simulated) and no bullet drop. Moraelin
Well, you are right that there is no vanilla 454 Casull bullet, but there are Vanilla 10mm, 7.62mm, 9mm, etc, bullets, and I wanted mine to kinda behave like the rest of them. Well, tbh, that's not very high on my priority list anyway. Right now fixing the model, especially that bent handle and the high polycounts, is what I'm up to. Then comes the animation which in NV is too fast to see in 1st person. It seems like I picked exactly the one whose controller Obsidian screwed up in NV. Just my kind of luck, eh? :P Even for the bullet, I think I need to do a better texture before I worry about the exact speed in feet per second. After that's done, well, I can get to details like the exact bullet speed :P Though here's a thought for you: silver is less heavy than lead, but harder, so now that's some ballistics worth thinking about :P
Cyberlazy
Haha. Gotcha. Just thought I would give you the number in game units incase you needed it. Generaly one considers less heavy/harder bullets as armor percing.. that said, Silver is VERY heavy. http://www.simetric.co.uk/si_metals.htm Shows:lead 11340 silver 10490 steel - rolled 7850 So really, Its close enough to lead that I doubt you would notice the diff. The extra hardness would be intresting however, since hardness generaly decreases damage to soft targets (But increases damage to armored targets) I think that might make silver less effiective then (hollow point) lead verus Ghouls/zombies that are not (magicly?) affected by silver. But hey, I have ventured into zombie/vampire mythos stuff here. So i'll stop now! Edited July 6, 2012 by Cyberlazy
