Blewstar
Hello everyone, I have been posting in the other forum as I am coming back from the time of skyrim before DLC's. I am injured from an industrial accident that has left me crippled, but alive. I have an old laptop GT70 2pc Dominator with a graphics card 870m 6GB DDR3 and hyper X 32GB memory 1600 Mhz . I just replaced the two mSATA 120GB in Raid 0 configuration. This was purchased as a gaming laptop for the extra memory and graphics for vmware and other cad programs for college. The combined 240 GB is not much nowadays and only having a few games at a time is painful. I have installed a Samsung EVO 500GB for OS and a 1TB for games. I noticed that I have another slot I could fill and this is where I could use some help. I do not know if modded programs benefit from using a stripe configuration. I could add a drive and place in Raid 0 for OS and games, and another for storage. This is the best system I have so will limit the mods I can install. Appreciate any technical expertise in this area of what works. I just don't know the size of a modded game and if dedicating cores would help with the processing. On a side note - I should be on opoids for the immense pain I have everyday. For obvious reasons this will not happen. My Dr. says play games to help with pain. A prescription that has helped take my mind away through research and soon gameplay. If this is posted in the wrong area please direct me where to go. Figured Skyrim SE as this will be the game I play for the time to come. Blewstar
Blewstar
I have spent the last 4 hours running benchmarks. Testing raid 0 with 2x Toshiba 120GB and single Samsung 860 EVO V-nand 500GB. The conclusion was surprising as there was little difference. Maybe a frame or 2. If I was to continue this test would be to put 2x EVO's together, but I am satisfied with the same speed and larger storage. There is a feature of the EVO (Rapid Mode) for non-nvme SSD's. It may help with load times by caching it in memory. This helps with loading maps etc faster, but frame rate will be the same. Thought I would post this to help anyone else coming back to the game with an older system. I might update this after loading just the initial mods/patches like USEEP, SKSE64, SKYui, Majestic Mountains, Realistic waters, Blended roads, Verdant grass, weather(undecided), skyrim enhanced trees and see how it performs.
