Carranthia
For my second playthrough of Skyrim (my first in SE), I'm mostly interested in making the world as beautiful and as possible (up to 2K res), making the people (and especially my avatar) as beautiful as possible, and, most importantly, making the world a much bigger place to explore with as many world-expansion mods as I can fit. I'm gonna pass on Falskaar this time: been there, done that, and while I appreciate the effort and enjoyed it in Oldrim, it's not a place I really want to revisit. I have no intention of making the game harder on myself, so I'm not using any survival mods or anything, and I'm sure I'll be throwing in a few mods to make my life easier as well... I'm most interested in Beyond Skyrim - Bruma, Beyond Reach, and The Forgotten City (these are musts). I'd like to give Qaxe's Questorium a whirl, and I never got around to oldies-but-goodies like Moonpath to Elsweyr and Wyrmstooth. And, I'd really love to have Legacy of the Dragonborn, but it looks like too daunting a task in getting it to play nicely with other mods. I was pointed toward DarkLadyLexy's site about compatible patches, and hoo boy, does that look like a LOT of work! I don't think I'd have much of a problem merging mods because I'm taking it slow and learning as much as I can (and might not have to merge, because I doubt I'll break 150 esps when all's said and done). Would life be easier if I didn't add LOTD into the world? What I find most daunting is trying to keep track of what patches I even need: "Oh, you're using True Storms? Then you need the Bruma weathered signs patch for LOTD" (I know I'm being silly, but that's how "headscratching" this all seems at times. What do I do if I am not using some of the mods that need patches to "play nice" with expansion areas? If I'm not using Frostfall, for example, can I leave any patches involved with it out of the merged mod, or is it a necessary ingredient no matter what? Thanks for any input... QuagaarWarrior
Ok I would say that DarkLadyLexys guide is for those with at least a moderate skill level when it comes to modding. However there is an active discord (link at the top of her guide) where you can find plenty of support and ask questions. If you are not using a mod then there us no need to use the patches for it. If you find the DarkLadyLexy guide a little daunting there is nothing stopping you from installing Legacy of the Dragonborn and a few of its supporting mods yourself without using the guide. It should be straightforward enough but feel free to post it you have questions. In regards to compatibility patches what I always do is make a list of mods I want to use on my new play through and build my load order using this list. That way I know what patches I will need as im installing stuff Edited November 3, 2018 by QuagaarWarrior
