I was running Vortex just fine until I tried to reopen it today to add some mods to skyrim. I recieve "An unrecoverable error occured", and it says "Path must be a string. Received undefined". I attached a screenshot of the full message. Can anyone please help me figure out what is wrong and how to get Vortex running again?

btw I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games and the program Vortex many times to no change. same error always comes up.

Thanks, M

Hi,

Sorry about the delayed response (we don't provide support on a Sunday night).

Are you saying you are getting this error immediately after starting Vortex up?

What was the last thing you did before this error started occurring? (in Vortex, that is).

Can you cause the error and then immediately grab the Vortex log please?

  • Press the windows key + R.
  • Type in %appdata%
  • Go to the Vortex folder
  • Look for the most recent "Vortex" text document

Thank you for responding :)

Yes, It crashes right after the splashscreen, I never even get to the actual program.

The only htings I did were mod Skyrim, then switch to and mod fallout 4 (without shutting down the program), then switched to Skyrim again to add some mods I forgot about, and that's when it crashed. (At first it said all my skyrim mods were uninstalled, but I figured it was just loading them, but then it crashed). and now I can't open Vortex and receive the same error message.

I hope I did this right, here is the document I found in AppData/Roaming/Vortex after doing what you said:

The file was to big to attach so I made it available on Google Drive:
