Deleted472477User Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Since i have a low-end system, I'm seriously considering using files to make it easier for chuggier computers to run the game and not look too horrible. they're here: http://techj.in/articles/all-skyrim-mods-for-low-end-pc-users http://www.gamezone.com/products/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/news/skyrim-mod-allows-game-to-run-on-low-end-pcs My question is, has anyone tried them? How did they work? Do they get along with the latest patches? I just ordered a copy on amazon.com, and I'm so excited to finally play :D
yafi Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Firstly. Congrats on buying and not pirating Skyrim, and welcome to PC modding! With the http://techj.in/articles/all-skyrim-mods-for-low-end-pc-users link I can confirm the following mods (based on general feedback) improve performance (highlighted in green): Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Skyrim Better Performance Mod v1.1a Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – ENBSeries Graphic Enhancement Mod v.0097 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Antiallias and Sharpen Effect Mod Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Simple Borderless Window Mod v13.3 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – ENBSeries AntiFREEZE Patch #9 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Skyrim Enhanced Shaders Mod v1.8 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – ENBSeries Patch v0.091 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Realistic Lighting Without Post Processing Mod v1.5 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Skyrim Total Enhancement Project v2.01 Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – FXAA Post Process Injector Mod v2.0Running ANY post-processing mods on low-end PCs may cause lag and even freezes and CTDs, it's best to avoid them if you want maximum performance, otherwise take the risk. As for the http://www.gamezone.com/products/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/news/skyrim-mod-allows-game-to-run-on-low-end-pcs link, yes, I'd say that's accurate. You might also want to consider the following mods:http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/34http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1598http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13049http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9571
Deleted472477User Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Piracy blows goats. I believe in paying for what I get from the hard work of others, and if it's free, that's their decision to make it so :) Thank you so much for all of this! I really appreciate your taking time to help. I will be back and let you know how it goes when I have time to do these.
helloguy1232 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) Just how bad is your system....... I have an Intel 1724 MB GMA (It's built in to the motherboard so I get maybe 750 MB max, and it's on a laptop) and I can still run Skyrim on High Textures and low everything else with 40+ framerate, all I needed was the 4GB RAM patch. Well, according to Can You Run It? everything is good but the processor, which is only 2 gb single core the rest could make up for it, I think. Defiantly better than the one I played Oblivion on: had a good processor, but the rest sucked. I might have to lower the graphics settings unless I want to do screenshots, possibly, but we'll see how it goes.
Dhegonus Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 ok, welcome to the world of skyrim. i have a decent system, despite having a intel hd integrated chipset which blows. but to sort of circumvent that particular issues, i use a variety of mods to help boost the other systems and it goes some ways to help me play my game, it took a choppy game for me and made it smooth. here is a list of in game mods and out of game mods i highly recommend as i use them and they improve performance. Hialgo's Performance booster Use more Ram - only to be used if you have more than 4gb of ram Game Booster 3.5 <-- extremely highly recommended Ordenador texture optimizer <-- takes a while to complete also, if you have a 4gig+ (recommend 8gig+) usb stick, stick it into a port on your computer, then use the readyboost utility, which helps out on the vram.. these are the performance utilities i use (i use some ini tweaks too, but can't remember the names) and i can play the game very smoothly :)
