hauntedbywraiths
So I'm absolutely brand new to modding. Never ever touched SkyEdit or the Creation Kit before in my life (until yesterday). I've been trying to turn the mask of Morokei into a circlet, because it looks ridiculous on the character I'm playing, and because having one piece of light armor on my character disqualifies me from using the Mage Armor perk. On my own (through fiddling in SkyEdit) I've successfully been able to create a .esp file that turns makes Morokei appear to be a jade emerald circlet from third person, using the armature models from Circlet01AA, Circlet01ArgonianAA, and Circlet01khajiitAA. It also makes it a non-armor item, removes the disable enchantment marker, and gives it the originally scripted enchantment (essentially magic regen 100%, fortify shout 20%). What I can't figure out for the life of me is how to get the inventory image to look like the jade emerald circlet instead of the Morokei bluish dragon priest mask. After I managed to fiddle my way around to what I previously listed, I've been all over the tutorials, and none of them seem to explain what I'm getting at. If you can help, thanks a bunch. If not, my OCD tendencies will have to play nice for now. -hbw Edited June 28, 2012 by hauntedbywraiths
gasti89
Go in the armor window (non the ArmorAddon) for the Morokei mask. On the right of the biped data (the armor pieces list) you'll see "male model" and "female model" pointing to a nif file. You just have to edit the mesh paths. But since the mesh is located in the meshes.bsa, you'll have to extract the circlet mesh with BSAopt (download on Nexus), put it in the right path as loose file and then you'll be able to select it from the path window (the textures will be ok without extracting)
dfac364
just to add on to the above, im not sure if you know this but you usually need 3 types of .nif files for armor, their is the male and female versions of the 1stperson_0 and _01 than the regular _0 and _01 which both deal with the armor actually on the body and finally the GND or GO nif which is the what you see when the object is on the ground
gasti89
The 1st person and the _0 + _1 belong to the Armor Addon. Since he has already done this (from what he wrote) he just needs the _GO or _GND (dunno how is called). Also, for a circlet you don't need the 1st person mesh (and i think there isn't at all) since you can't see it in 1st person.
