Are mods safe to use?

How safe are mods in MHW?

 

Am asking because it seems the "harmless" mods such as cosmetics (transmog) show up online, while the other half are just straight up cheats

 

I don't intend to make my game easier, but it would be nice to have some new textures and custom armor sets, maybe even new monsters

 

Has there been any official statement or people getting banned for modding?

I don't think Capcom has the capacity to distinguish cheating anyways. The save files are stored locally, and the RNG stuff also happens locally. All the server does is host a lobby to play with.

 

Of course I can't totally be sure that it's totally safe, i mean there's a possibility of crashing other's games, or Capcom banning someone. But just be prudent and don't use cheat-mods.
