Mitchyitchy
Ok so like the title says. Should i go by what the description of the mod (what the mod author said about load order) or go by what loot says after doing the sort option? Recently i just upgraded my computer so now i can play fallout 4 with mods like sim settlements 3 in 1 and other large mods like valk raising, aa fusion city and the required mods and such for them. Now I always just installed and played and yes crashed a ton no matter the game (fallout 3/nv/4/skyrim) so i ended up finding LOOT and doing the tes5/foedits to clean and fix the bugtesda dirty edits they do. But my question is now which way should i go with the load order? Like i will put mods in the order the mod auth says to if they put must be here or da da da will happen. Outside of those warnings from them should i go with loot or what? Edit: I am using wrye bash as well and only 2 mods or optional parts for mods are marked orange (trying to figure it out to get them green) the rest are green the way i have it thus far. Even though all the mods are green in wrye bash still begs the question should i still follow mod author or loot/bash for it? Or am i stuck just playing and if i ctd shift around will still in green and repeat? Edited November 12, 2018 by Mitchyitchy
SirTwist
Use loot to do an initial sort, then follow the mod author. Loot is a good base. And a decent diagnostic tool. Use also Fallout 4 Edit.
jdrfox
regardless of load order, some mods have dirty edits with bad records that can still cause ctd. Some mods run scripts that can cause ctd. Heck, some mods simply have loose texture or mesh files that can cause ctd.
