Hadesminion12
Help! With Gimp i altered the Footmale.dds file but now i cant get my paint to come off because i accidentally saved it. Where are the game's files for footmale? I tried using BSA Commander but all of the body parts (upperbody.dds, groinmale.dds, footmale.dds (which is the foot of your character), etc) are seperate. How do you get them all so u can alter the whole body at the same time like with the Imperial-Male-Footmale.dds folder in the data folder of oblivion. Someone please help, im trying to paint someone like Kratos in God of War but i already painted the body and i cant get it back to normal.
HouseAtlantic
BSA Commander should extract the Footmale.dds textures right out of the BSA, drop it in your Characters folder and overwrite the one you edited. If you didn't edit any other textures they are still the same, then.Since we are talking the default Oblivion textures I cannot send them to you, as easy as that would be. The default body meshes read from the variety of body textures you said, but body mods like Robert's Male and FF use the texture Footmale and footfemale dds for all four meshes, maybe that would make it easier for you
Hadesminion12
There are these files in the IMperial Male Folder when i unpack it using BSA Cmdr in the out folder of it : footmale (the feet of a character), footmale_n, groinmale, groinmale_n, handmale, handmale_n, legmale, legmale_n, upperbodymale, upperbodymale.dds. Those are the files in the BSA Cmd-Out-textures-characters-imperial-male folder. There isnt just a Footmale folder that contains the whole body, do u meen i just drag the imperial-male folder into the other imperial-male folder in the data directory? HouseAtlantic
To undo your changes, yes and be sure to select ok when you're asked to overwrite these files, however, if you only edited footmale.dds then you only need to overwrite footmale.dds and not the other ones. These changes might call for a new normal map (_n.dds) of the edited imagewhich is very simple, i can explain if needed

HouseAtlantic
With Gimp, you should see a tab all the way to the top-right that says Filtersor you can right-click the image for that. under Filters > Map after holding the cursor over it for a couple seconds another drop window should appear that says Normalmap...it gets technical so playing with the settings for now will be your best way to learn. most normal maps are just a transparent image with nothing on it, this may be the case for the footmale_n.ddsif so, navigate to the Layer tab (or Right-click) and look for "Transparency" and Add Alpha Channel. Next, press the delete key and it should erase the image, save as footmale_n.dds and place the file in your Data\Textures\Characters\imperial\m folder and make sure the footmale.dds and footmale_n.dds are spelled the same for both files
HouseAtlantic
i keep replacing it but the paint is still onthe only explanation for that would be the file is not overwriting correctly, try deleting the image edited and placing the extracted footmale texture in the folder after that. closing Gimp during this will help, since the program doesn't have a delete function
Hadesminion12
thnx, im trying that as i type this. EDIT: This did not work, i guess im stuck with this paint, which really dissapoints me, as it now ruined my idea and it will be very hard to make the body texture from scratch, and im a noob at moding. HouseAtlantic
It's not permanent, delete footmale.dds and its normal map then in-game it should be back to normal. Besides, you couldn't release the textures at Tesnexus unless the body was completely unrecognizable. At least using Robert's textures for this and releasing it wouldn't be against the copyright laws.try to edit the image while it is in your BSA cmdr out box instead of sending it to your data folder right off the bat, but you didn't overwrite the game textures, i know that much. so anything you extract from the BSA will be fine still
