Issues with levelled quest rewards

Hi one and all,

 

I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar to my problem and if anyone has managed to find a solution.....

 

Quite recently I've realised that I've been getting incredibly low level quest rewards from Ulfric. I'm currently playing an Imperial 2H specialist and I'm at level 33. I was turning in Liberating the Reach and he gave me a hide shield as a reward. Previously he'd given me an enchanted Iron Axe as the 'Axe of Windhelm' when I became Thane. Its strange as this does not seem to be reflected in the amount of gold I'm receiving, as turning in the very first DB assassination got the same character 400 gold as a reward.

 

Its not a huge issue but I like to address these little problems before they develop into massive game-breaking ones at a later date.

 

As an aside, I've noticed in my game that horse combat has got worse. When I first played with horse combat enemies could be injured from in almost a 180degree arc in front of the character. Now I only seem to be able to injure them when they are stood almost directly in front of my horse. If anyone knows what may be causing this (I have a suspicion that its convenient horses mod) then let me know.
