Buried Containers Bugging me...

When I use the Console Command:

'Placeatpc "crate/urn/chest etc." 1 1 1'

Why does the crate/urn/chest always have at least half of it under the ground?

i.e. I only see half of it sticking out of the ground?

Any help?

Yes, I have messed with few and personalised them for my own use, but it still happens with stock (unmessed with) items (crate/urn/chest).

Also I am attempting this in Uryn Marens' house and in the Factors Estate at Raven Rock, Solstheim. Are these places not configured at ground level? Is there a way I can correct this annoyance?

Thanks,

Loki.

Well, I guess it's just because it's placing it right where you're standing, and that's how it ends up.

But the good news is that you can fix this with the console.

open the console

click on the object

type the command "getpos z"

this will return the object's Z coordinate position, like 1000

you can also modify the x and y coordinates too, of course

now type "setpos z 1010", and the object will now be 10 units higher.

adjust to your liking.

also, you can use getangle/setangle for rotating objects.

Another way to placeatpc is to use the "tcl" console to command to levitate. Then, knowing that placeatpc will put the object where your feet are, you can move to approximately where you want the object to appear, and then do the placeatpc command.

Please excuse the double post, but, I tried what you said John, and, well, it worked like a charm!

It was precisely the info I was looking for!

Thanks very much!

Also I am now wondering, how I can make them 'non-walkthroughable'?

Is there a box I have to check in the CS?

Of this last point, not as desperate as the first I had - just thought it might be nice to have 'solid' boxes etc.

Anyway Thanks again!

Loki.
