my computer it okay tbh [spec in sig] i dont plan on upgrading yet, and thats because it does perfectly well when playing skyrim. i used to have 2k texture pack installed, but i can live without it [since in drags abit when playing ultra with enb series] now i just use Medieval Fantasy ENB and mods like better smoke, realistic candles, 2k landscapes... etc. bear in mind ive got my ini configured to uGridsToLoad=9 etc. it bugs the hell outta me, those frozen waterfalls.

so it manages, i've got other cosmetics: armor mods and stuff, tytanis... etc.... and it only ever crashes if i mess up with installing conflicted mods [its happened a few times, lol]

i never play longer than 2-3 hours so thats another reason it doesnt crash i suppose [im sure it would if i did play longer, though...]

I have to agree with Dhegonus. It's hard to believe that so many folks have CTD's and freeze ups. I feel for you guys but FO3, FONV and Skyrim have been rock solid on my machine. I have my own complaints about Skyrim but stability sure isn't one of them. Been playing Skyrim for months and the only trouble I've had were due to mods (1 CTD, 1 freeze up).

Specs:

Win 7 64

i7 [email protected] - 8MB Cache

Asus Rampage III GENE LGA 1366 Mobo

12 GB ram

GTX 560 Ti 2 GB vram (a recent upgrade from: GeForce GT 240 1 GB vram)

Creative SB X-Fi sound card

My old vid card ran the game just fine but not on "ultra" settings. ;) I can't help but wonder if sound might be an issue for some folks. I dunno.

@dbrown9141, i'm alittle hesitant to comment on your issues but here goes lol.

I get the feeling after reading everything you've tried to troubleshoot that the Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard (rev 1 or 2?) or drivers 'might' be faulty.

You also might want to double check the module part numbers of the Patriot ram (6GB triple channel) against Gigabyte's official vendor memory support list here:

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x58a-ud3r.pdf

If you're using the driver disk that came with the motherboard it has been reported as buggy, download drivers from the Gigabyte website instead.

Have you tried down-clocking the CPU/GPU/RAM back down to stock speeds and voltages?

Is everything nicely cooled/ventilated inside your computer case and are the power cables hooked up to the GPU properly?

I don't think you've answered this yet, is it just Skyrim or do you get issues running other games?

I've had issues with other games, but I've haven't played many games on my pc to begin with. I have rev. 2 of the Gigabyte Mobo, I checked it recently when I was cleaning/installing the cpu cooler. I haven't fully looked into the driver/compatibility issues that could be coming from that, but I should- thanks for the link. The only times I've had games running smoothly were coincidentally when I had the CPU overclocked so I don't worry about that. I can tell by the way crash occurs that it's probably software related. For instance I can load an old save I have and play for about 4-5 secs at 60fps before the game white screens.

Anyway I've just downloaded the beta driver released from AMD, gonna give that a try. If that doesn't work I'll be building an new HTPC today that will hopefully be problem free.

Nothing fancy here just a 500 dollar build.

AMD FX 4100 bulldozer oc'ed to 4.3ghz

8gb Gskill sniper series 1866mhz DDR3

Windows 7 64 bit home premium

650 watt antec earthwatts green

EVGA GTX 460 superoverclocked ..i have it oveclocked to 930 mhz and 2100mhz

Viewsonic VP930b 19" lcd monitor

I run Skyrim on ultra settings every now and then i get a glitch of some sort, seems like it could be a software where something doesnt load right when you start the game...I leave my computer running 24/7 and reboot about once a week.................I have found out thru the years no matter what your running you have software glitches in just about any program or game you run.

Most crashes and freezes are caused by the game looking for items in places that are no longer there.

For example if you keep adding new mods and removing old mods it will make the game more and more unstable.

The sad part is the speed at which awesome mods come out makes it very hard to just stick to your guns and ignore them.

If your crashing loads try starting over with the exact same mods and almost guaranteed your crashing will be close to completely gone.

That said some mods are incompatible with one another but they are mostly self explanatory. don't have 2 mods that do close to the same thing and read the information on compatibility on each mod.

Also running crossfired AMDs btw and I'm not crashing on this or any other game so I'd say that's probably a Myth.

I've never known a low watt power supply cause a crash. They usually just blow up from strain

Game Setup:

Mods: Very few mods, but Official High Res DLC, SMIM Full, and a few other high res replacers.

Settings: Slightly modified High. Ultra is totally possible too, but I don't find the much of an improvement over High since Skyrim seems very good about pop-in generally.

Other: Ran with SKSE, only for Container Categories hack currently.

Specs:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, always up to date of course.

CPU: i7 2600K at stock 3.4GHz (I don't currently need the extra power like I thought originally, so no point in overclocking it at the moment.)

GPU: GTX 460 2GB, slight factory overclock. Driver version 301.42 (This improved the game performance even further.) 1920x1080 resolution ran in and out of game.

Mobo: Asus P8P67 Pro, not that the mobo should matter.

Audio: Realtek 8.1 Surround Sound on-board. Sadly, I do not have a set of speakers for 8.1, but I do for 5.1 and run my audio as such at 24-bit, 44100 Hz Studio Quality sound.

RAM: 12GB 1333MHz Dual Channel, Corsair

HDD: 7200 RPM Spinpoint F3, 1TB

Other hardware that shouldn't matter either: Blu-Ray Burner. 500GB External HDD. Xbox 360 Controller.

So all that said, on the software side, I clean my system often with CCleaner, both the normal and Registry cleaner. I run Avast Antivirus, Free Edition which I find to be super friendly towards my games. I also have my entire start up list disabled other than Avast, and many services are disabled as well. I do this because I prefer to keep everything as clean and streamlined as possible, but no doubt it helps on games too.

So finally, I get a steady 60FPS and since release, in 200 hours or so overall, I'd say I've had 5-10 crashes at worst, not counting Alt-Tab crashes but hey, doing that in Beth games is just asking for a crash sadly lol
