Ghost Town Gunfight Foreshadowing?

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, which is mostly why I'm posting this. But did anyone else get the feeling that Ghost Town Gunfight was a foreshadowing of the plot line nearing the end game?

Ghost Town Gunfight was one of the first things you do in the game (assuming you didn't decide to kill all the goodspring residents). In this quest you help Ringo kill all the powder gangers that are pursuing him. What you do in this quest is you picked a side and you were given potential allies that you could persuade into helping you. You could talk to Sunny Smiles, Trudy, Doc Mitchel, Easy Pete, and Chet. You could either use your skills to employ their help, or have them refuse and sit it out when you went head to head with the powder gangers.

At the end of the game I felt that this was oddly similar to the quests I was doing right before the Dam War. I picked a side (NCR) and I was given the option to "take care of a few loose ends" (Which was also similar to something you could say to Ringo during the Ghost Town Gunfight quest). By loose ends, it meant I had to take care of the Brotherhood of Steel, the Great Khans, Mr. House and the Three Families, and the Boomers. I could either employ their help or eliminate them (actually you were forced to eliminate the BoS and House, giving you the option of recruiting the boomers and the great khans). And by recruiting them, they would support you in your final battle of the game.

I felt that Ghost Town Gunfight was a foreshadowing of the endgame quest line that you would eventually play through.

Did anyone else get this feeling, or am I just thinking too much and giving the story writers too much credit?
