Looking For...Mod that Removes Hotkey Messages

Hi everyone,

 

I use Drop Lit Torches OBSE version by Strategy Master, but unfortunately sometimes the "Hotkey torch equipped" message gets messed up and starts displaying when I UNEQUIP the torch. But even if it worked properly, I equip and unequip the hotkey torch very frequently and the message annoys me. And in general I find the hotkey messages useless and unnecessary. I mean, if I bind a certain weapon to a hotkey and then press that hotkey, I really don't need to be told that weapon is equipped since I can tell from the icon and possibly the screen if I've got my weapon out.

 

I know about No More Annoying Messages and Annoying messages begone mods but both don't handle hotkey messages.

 

Anyone know of a mod? Or willing to make one? :) Thank you.

I haven't been able to find anything that offers you the solution you want, HOWEVER:

 

I use THIS MOD - it has 2 plugin esp's, one addresses this problem but not quite the way you wish:

 

From the Readme:

-Oblivion automatically generates messages in the top corner of the screen when items are added or removed from the player's inventory or equipped. This happens even with the normal hotkeys, and there is no way to turn them off. I've included a small esp that makes the "equipped" message briefer, if you wish to use it.

Thank you very much for looking into this. I was afraid that maybe it was impossible to remove the equipped messages, and scruggsywuggsy knows his stuff...I'll try the faster messages mod...still, I wonder if with all the improvements to OBSE if it's possible now...thanks again.

OBSE 0015 added new versions of Equip/Unequip/etc functions that prevent the message on screen.

 

But that means that you have to go thru the scripts replacing the original ones with the new versions.

 

Maybe, from now on, new mods will come out using the new functions. (but I am not that optimistic, as there has been a workaround for some time and not all modders implemented it)

Technically, it should be quick and easy for someone familiar whit the scripts.

I suggest you contact the author and ask/suggest him to release a modified version.

QQuix, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Bottom line is I asked scruggsywuggsy the ferret to make a OBSE plugin to remove the messages, and in a couple minutes it was all done.

Yeah and the mod got instant recognition.
