Disc Drive Errors?

Recommended Posts

So I think there is something wrong with my CD/DvD drive now. I've been getting Cyclic Redundancy errors on The Sims Medieval (which I ended up downloading from Origins, but sound doesn't work in it so I'm not playing it) and just recently on Medieval 2 Total War. Then I just tried to install my beloved Oblivion GOTY Edition and when I put the disc in the launcher crashed. So then I ran the setup, which crashed. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with this. (I've been playing Vindictus because it has sound and its a download, but I have crappy connection to Nexon games for whatever reason...)

Any help is appreciated... As always.

:(

Now excuse me as I go cry somewhere...

Edit: I guess a better title might have been CD-Rom Drive errors. Anyway, I got Oblivion to work through Microsoft Fix It. It ran the CD and I got the typical Securom error, but after clicking retry the setup started! Yay! Still would like to know the cause of this problem...

Edit Edit: Skyrim does not get along with it though. ._. Loud vibration when I tried to right click on the drive in My Computer, and it freezes. It doesn't even act like its in.

It might be your drive that has started to go bad, or just a loose connection in your computer. DVD drives don't cost that much and are usually easy to replace (just unplug cables, unscrew a few screws, pull out drive, put in new drive, screw in a few screws, plug in cables). The only tricky part might be if it is an older computer using an IDE connection for your drive instead of a SATA, but I'm sure you can figure out which you have by looking up those terms and comparing it with the plugs on your drive.

Well my computer has some weird green colored lock thing over the drive, but its working now that I used the Microsoft Fix It. Wish I knew why, but it hasn't had any problems since then yet.
