Franpa
Edit: Vortex MOD Manager (Nexus). How do I get the Launcher to recognize and manage mods that I've manually installed in the past (preferably without reinstalling the mods)? balmz
don't use that, use damodder or dao-modmanager for dao
theskymoves
See this discussion for info on how Vortex is currently bugged for DAO and should not be used. DAO-ModManager is the most reliable and fully-featured third party manager for DAO; DAModder is another popular option, but it will sometimes not uninstall mods cleanly/properly, leaving behind files that can cause issues. Franpa
Yeah I noticed something was wrong when I used it to install 2 mods (the FtG UI mod and Skip the Fade). No clue if Skip the Fade is installed correctly (not up to that part yet), I might just uninstall it via Vortex than manually install the DAZIP for it with DAUpdater to be sure it's correctly installed. For FtG UI it wasn't affecting any of the UI or appearing in the DLC list to toggle until I uninstalled it via Vortex and then installed it manually via DAUpdater. So, I'm gonna uninstall Vortex. I also today learned that Quinn was still updating his Fixpack, I figured he left the scene since the one on the Nexus hadn't been updated for... forever. Was a big surprise to learn it was simply moved to another website for a while (and now its back on the Nexus). So I've also installed his latest work and removed some of the mods I had been using since his work now covers that stuff (i've begun a new playthrough). theskymoves
Note that Vortex may have 'uninstalled' any official DLC that was installed, as those DAzip modules also write entries to the AddIns.xml... so you might need to repair or reinstall to fix that, if applicable. Franpa
Naw, everything is still intact it seems. I didn't trigger that bug in Vortex luckily. It'd be nice if I could fix the typo in this topics title lol. Edited November 26, 2018 by Franpa

I tried and tried to reinstall the DLC following so many different instructions for this unfortunately evolving issue, but to no avail. :sad:I ended up purchasing the game...again for the 3rd or 4th? time... But this time from GoG where the game is DRM-free.Felt like getting down on my hands and knees to GoG! :ermm:   I feel that I should mention for Franpa, and any other viewers of this thread, that the first vortex installed mod did not seem to cause the problem... I do not know if I am remembering that I read that some of the mods installed by vortex or all of them cause the issue. But vortex did not 'install' all my mods incorrectly...just a few. Now... to follow up whether I should create an entirely new save folder of DAO to put my mods into. The experience has left me edgy! I do not want this to happen again! Thanks to all of you!  I always know I can find people in these forums to discuss the latest news and offer assistance with troubleshooting. Thandal
Cross-posting from the other topic (although we generally discourage having two threads to discuss the same issues...) Hey there, @ladaienai; Sorry you went through all that. It really wasn't necessary. :pinch: It's just that Vortex doesn't handle DAO mods very well. (Basically, it can only handle the very basic ones.) And the current version especially doesn't like ".dazip" mods. It messes with the "addins.xml" file in a way that confuses things and makes the game act as if none of the DLC is present. If one simply reverses ("uninstalls") any changes made with Vortex the DLC will reappear! As tsm said, use the DAO-ModManager for DAO/DA2 mods. ladaienai
Aaaannnd ... I cannot open DAOModManager.... I have tried to open older versions as well. What is happening is:in the most recent versions, nothing at all... like, 'hello? where did you go?' kind of thing. Then as I progress backwards through older versions of DAOModManager, Windows 10 begins to put up alertsthat this is a dangerous-to-my-computer sourced thing. I choose to install anyway... and Windows will not budge!I really love my mods! Have been modding for years... learned the ropes on Elder Scrolls where the modding community is fiercely devoted. But I guess no modding til this issue with Vortex and DAO is resolved/fixed.Thanks to everyone for your kind assistance... especially to all of you sharing your experiences! Reading through others' experiences is great for troubleshooting.xox
