Vortex stuck on installing mods

Everything was working fine until recently. I download the mod( doesn't matter what mod) and the notification says "preparing for installation" and just stays there forever. No idea how to work around this.

Are you getting any sort of error message?

 

Could you please cause this to happen and then immediately send in a log file?

 

Send in your Vortex.log following these steps:

Click the three dots in the top right corner and select "Send Feedback".

Enter a descriptive title and pertinent information.

At the bottom, click on "Attach Special File" and select "Vortex Log".

After that, just hit "Submit Feedback" in the bottom right corner.

I do not receive any error message, only "preparing to install" in the top right. I did what you said and submitted a report

Having this issue as well on 0.16.12 with Skyrim SE. Mods were installing and deploying fine previously. I uninstalled and deleted a zipped SSELODGen LOD colleteion, re-generated my LODs, took a nap, zipped the output, and added it manually to my mod download folder. Vortex saw the LOD pack correctly, but attempting to install leaves me stuck at "Preparing".

 

I have since deleted the LOD pack from my mod folder and have tried installing other mods both through local zip files and through direct downloads from Nexus. Here is a mods I attempted to use. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18028. I have noticed the "Mods" label on the side will show its loading icon after maybe 5 seconds of "Preparing", but it does not return.

 

I have also submitted a report via Vortex.

 

UPDATE: the mod eventually installed while I was writing this. It was seriously sitting there "Preparing" for about 15 minutes. Huh. Here is the diagnostic file from the install, for reference. I guess I exaggerated on the install time, it was closer to 5 minutes than 15. Though I could have sworn I let it sit for 5+ minutes previously.

Started getting this issue as well... Just today

same issue as well with fallout 4. It was working just fine the day before and now all of a sudden nothing will work. It's been stuck on preparing for a while now and nothing.

Having the same thing on Fallout 4. Needed to reinstall def_ui and it just will not work. Uninstalls it just fine, redownloads the file just fine, but gets stuck on "preparing to install".

So I can't speak for anyone else, but sending feedback (with a vortex log attached) actually gets vortex to 'unstick' out of preparing to install mode and makes it actually go ahead and install the mod. It's odd, and perhaps random, but throwing it out there in case it helps.

 

PS: Probably shouldn't spam the feedback function just to unstick your modmanager guys, that will probably hurt more than it helps.
