Retloc
Monster Hunter gives us realistic humans hunting monster through careful preparation and study of their prey, using all the tools at their disposal to bring the enemy down, then they hand you big fackin' anime weapons and send that whole aesthetic down the shitter. That's what you call ludonarrative dissonance. I think? Anyhoo. The weapons are too big, they look ridiculous. The hammer clips through the ground from normal movement, and would have to be full of cotton candy to be swung around like that. The greatsword is a structural support more than a weapon, and I have no clue how lancers are supposed to carry their lance or their shield one-handed. Please get them more in line with reality, very much appreciated. Some specifics! - Hammer heads can be brought down to a little over sledgehammer sized- Lances should be made less...girthy? Can't make them shorter or you can't gauge hits well, but they are too thick. Their shields need to drop quite a bit. Can still be larger than kite shields, but not big as walls.-The greatsword may be beyond saving, but if it can get anywhere near the size of a...maybe a thick claymore? Like half the width of currently would be plenty of sword? There's a few others that are outside the bounds of the believable but aren't so cartoonish, I can live with them as is but would appreciate any attention there too. -Longsword is Sephiroth sized, can lose a few feet and maybe some width, get to naginata size-Bow, glaive, and dual blades could come back about 10%-20% and they'd be perfectThe switch axe and charge blade are probably lost causes, and very complex aesthetically to boot, I'd imagine they have many separate models/textures per weapon, can't imagine it's worth the effort. Thanks for reading, at the very least. Hopefully this resonates with some enthusiastic modder out there!
