AmiableOgre
Firstly even in BETA I think Vortex is a fantastic improvement over all other mod managers of which I am aware. I however, am afflicted with a peculiar ability to instinctively encounter/create problems where others apparently do not. I have a 64 bit system with 16gb of ram, a GEFORCE GTX 1070 ITX GPU and adequate optic fibre to the premises internet service at an average ping rate of between 30 and 80 mbps. Prior to promulgating this supplication when I launched SkyrimSE on Vortex I did so by clicking directly on the little arrow at the right side of the game avatar on DASHBOARD. During the sequence for the game load via this method it produces several error messages relative to SkyUI and FNIS Sexy Moves to name but two mods I have installed. The message states that those applications have encountered errors because 'SKSE64 is not running' and that they will not therefore function. Due to endless difficulties in coping with what seems to me to be immensely complicated and at times confusing procedures via tutorials on YouTube etc I am now reluctant to attempt such processes. My game still works as intended despite the apparent absence of SKSE64 however load times when I perform actions such as looting defeated opponents and accessing my inventories are significantly increased. Because of that, I finally did what I should have done to begin with and went to the forum link on vortex. There I read some information which seemed to indicate I should be launching the game via the SKSE64 button on the tool panel rather than the avatar on DASHBOARD. When I attempt to do so hewever I encounter yet another error message which states 'Couldn't find SkyrimSE.exe.'. I intend to convey no criticism via the next two questions but rather a desire to understand the 'mechanism of injury' and imply the possibility for some remedial action. Is this problem a consequence of having launched the game incorrectly in the first place? If so why is it even possible to launch the game directly via DASHBOARD rather than exclusively via SKSE64 in the tool chest? Any assistance in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. With thanks in anticipation of consistently helpful response. Amiable Ogre.
rmm200
I have to think this is all covered in the WiKi at this point.Install SKSE 64 following the instructions from here: https://skse.silverlock.orgThere are only a handful of files, and they get placed directly in your game directory. Now add the whole archive you downloaded as a mod. That is because you need the scripts that go into the data directory, and Vortex does that.At this point you don't even need Vortex running. You can execute skse64_loader.exe directly from the game directory. Presto - no SKSE64 errors. Now back to Vortex. You should have an SKSE64 application on your dashboard. Edit it. (three dots)Set the target to skse64_loader.exe in your game directory. Set Start In to your game directory.Click those three dots again, and select Make Primary. SKSE gets a little flag Icon. Now when you click the Start button in the upper left SSE, Skyrim SE will launch using skse64_loader. Not magic - but close enough.Go wack some dragons.
