Bixby Posted August 21, 2008 Share Posted August 21, 2008 So half the mods I want require Eye candy, after like two days of digging through my search results for eye candy I finally find one that is not clothes or armor for eye candy, download it to my OBMM (As the description instructed) Added it, activated it, Try to play Oblivion. CRASH. So....I go back and delete the eye candy mod, go to see if Oblivion is Working. CRASH. My computer says there is a problem with Oblivion, and recommends I upgrade to the lastest Oblivion so I go to the site and all the patches say "you do not need to download this if you have downloaded the shivering Isles expansion" which I have. I tried that Download, something went wrong, then I tried the English one (I dunno why it was called English since both UK and US speak English, but w/e) It worked, I tried to run Oblivion again. Says "The Oblivion Launcher could not find the uninstall program run the Setup.exe on the Oblivion install disc to uninstall." So I put the Disc in and clicked it, then it just brought me to the Oblivion menu that still said the same thing when I clicked it.... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bben46 Posted August 22, 2008 Share Posted August 22, 2008 I don't have a fix (yet) for the unable to uninstall in Vista, that's a new one for me. Using the Disk has always seemed to work for others. However, I do have a suggestion for when you do reinstall. It seems that a security feature in Vista interferes with downloads. Here is the fix for that. Quoted from the Oblivion Mods FAQ WIKI Using VISTA only: If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game. Then you should reinstall Oblivion into a different directory instead of the default. Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security. For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder.
