Eye Candy problem....I think.

I had the same problems due to Vista, but now have got Oblivion working fine.

First of all, disable that annoying as hell "needs your permission to continue" feature.

Go to Control Panel

Type in user control

click on "turn UAC on or off"

Click it off

restart the computer for it to take effect

Second, try going to properties on your Oblivion desktop shortcut. Click on the compatibility tab. Click compatibility mode. scroll down or up to Windows Xp service pack or any windows XP type. Apply it. Don't worry, Vista contains data from earlier versions.

Still, Vista is a pile of festering donkey dung...but my above advice might help you enjoy Oblivion at least.

Hope this helps.

While turning off UAC as suggested above is generally followed "at your own risk", I couldn't wait to get rid of it myself, very first thing I did when I got this computer a year ago.

Yeah. turning it off can seem like you're committing a vile act of computer suicide in the terms of the designers, but that feature is overdoing the protective bit. For a while, I'd keep getting that little popup message in the corner of my comp telling me what a dire state I was in for doing such an outlandish thing as disabling their nagging bit of data, but other than that, it's gone well.
