DethChikkin
So, pretty much im sick of encountering missing meshes in dungeons relating to specifically to this issue: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1378149-forms-unsafe-to-touch-with-tesvsnip/ and on here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9557 i saw this post: "@DarkGenius: The kind of thing you're describing is caused by mods that have been edited with TESVSnip. You need to check your load order and remove anything that's been around since before February, and anything else that's been edited with TESVSnip before or since then. Those other mods are corrupt and the missing pieces are the result of that corruption." - Arthmoor did that, and still came up with bugs. currently i heard the safest way is to search for mod dates and nix everything older then april 30th, but i realized there might be some people that still use TESVSnip. is there a better way to make sure i dont have any mods edited with TESVSnip?am i right in my method?are people still using tesvsnip?what are the specific areas that this effect and what does it not effect? ill post mod lists once im done sorting through it using this method, doing a complete reinstall. ill put both mods that pass and the ones that dont (theres a few im a little steamed didnt pass :/ ) EDIT: Here's the load order (forgive me if this is the wrong thread, this didnt really feel like im asking for help more so wanting to hear some shared thoughts on the subject. 00 Skyrim.esm 01 Update.esm 02 3rdEraWeaponsMoS.esm <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 03 Immersive Patrols x2.esm 04 Populated Cities NPCListMaster.esm 05 SkyMoMod.esm 06 WARZONES - Civil Unrest.esm 07 BlackTowerArmory.esm 08 JSwords.esm 09 CMNewCompanions.esm 0A hideout.esm <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 0B SoS - The Dungeons.esp [Version 1.2] 0C SoS - The Wilds.esp [Version 1.1] 0D Realistic Lighting.esp 0E Realistic Lighting Patcher.esp 0F Weapons and Armor fixes.esp 10 Weapons and Armor fixes - Hacks.esp 11 Chesko_WearableLantern.esp 12 Convenient Horses.esp 13 Craftable Torches.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 14 dD - Enhanced Blood Main.esp 15 Dr_Bandolier.esp 16 EveryoneGetInside.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 17 More Craftables.esp 18 MoreRainWindy33percentLessView.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 19 MoreSnowWindyand75percentLessView.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 1A People Have Torches.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 1B PerkPointPotion.esp 1C SkyMoMod_lists.esp 1D SkyMoMod Extras Collectables.esp 1E xgfPferdeKarren-en.esp [Version 1.5] 1F BlackSacramentArmor.esp 20 BlackSacramentDBreplacer.esp 21 Bucklers-Complete.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! 22 Cloaks - Player Only.esp 23 1nivWICCloaks.esp [Version 2.0] 24 dragonboneweaponscomplete.esp 25 dragonpriestmasks.esp <----- TESSnip Bugged!!! flobalob
The problem, I suspect, isn't that a mod has been edited with TESVSnip, it's that it has been edited with TESVsnip BADLY. Like any tool it's only as good as the operator.
DethChikkin
see, i thats what i thought but from what ive read it sounds unsafe to use AT ALL. am i wrong?
gasti89
Apart for bad TESnip uses, the only thing i know about making it dangerous is merging. If you merge 2 esps with tesnip, it might happen to assign the same FormID to two objects. Usually the CK fixes it itself, but not everytime. I don't remember where i've read this
DethChikkin
well poo, so theres not really an easy way to tell without thorough testing? with the creators of PerkUP and Better Sorting..... would you say im safe sticking with those?
David Brasher
Unfortunately, the date stamp on a mod doesn't reliably tell you anything. You would have better luck reading the date on the readme file (if the mod author is a conscientious person who writes a readme file and dates it.) The reason that I say that date stamps are not reliable is because changing your load order in Wrye Bash changes the date on a mod. If I put a brand-new mod into my load order before my oldest mod, I may suddenly have a brand-new mod that looks like it was made in 2011. Certain modding operations such as creating masters can place very old date stamps on mods. In Oblivion, the act of using TES4Edit to modclean could give you a very old date stamp, but if you touched the mod to make the date stamp accurate, you could make the mod dirty again. DethChikkin
i was looking at upload dates not date stamps on the mods themselves, but thats good to know. even looking for a better date relies on trust that the modder knows whats up and knows what he's doing... god i cant wait till this game is as old as oblivion is now, then ill mod the hell out of it. really my problems started when WiS was discontinued. it wasnt really the monsters or warzones, but the gameplay tweaks that hit it for me. i use the uncapper and its PERFECT. not to mention darkages makes OP weapons not so OP (depending on what it is).so here i am, trying to piece together what little of that experience i can with bit and scraps from random modders that seem to have disappeared in bleakfalls barrow somewhere back around march or February .... and now my video card is heating up way too much and im passing my ghz and virtual mem with enb XD. think ill focus on my heating issue for now and do some research on my preferred mod list and re-download CK in steam, thx for the imput. btw, is there a thread for swaping mod lists? id love to see what some other users have, it might fit my taste
